What could go wrong in a pool party?
Well, actually many things specially when it's haunted.
Night swim comes from Bryce Mcguire known for a couple of short films before teaming up with blumhouse and producer James Wan for a complete flick based on the shor horror movie with the same name from 2014 with Mcguire as the writer.
The story follows a typical family dealing with and health issue surrounding the father(Wyat Russell) which is a retired baseball player longing for the old days while they're looking for the perfect house for a new start.
They end up with one that got a pool even. Because who knows? Maybe playing marco, polo is good for our health generally But sometimes bad things come up wrapped in roses and butterflies gift paper.
It got the scary location vibes and all the extra shenanigans that comes with like the lights blinking all over the place and visions of shadows isn't there, even the family's pet disappearance as a sign for the horror to begin but all of it seems repetitive and lacking in creativity, though it's hard a genre already using all the tricks available for a simple shallow jumpscare.
It throws us a tatse from the amityville horror parenting guide with a pool deep as the hole in the movie "the hole(2009)" and delivers a fun 90-ish minute fun run for popcorn eating.
