Unit Eleven (2020)
Absolute fail.
I normally like these kinds of things, zero budget, British, made by genre fans, but this is just awful.
The acting is abysmal, normally adds to the charm of these low grade flicks but in this case it is just awful. Practically zero story either, I think I can see what they were going for but it misses wildly. To be honest I'm not going to Easter any more of my time reviewing this. If you normally enjoy bad movies for being "so bad they're good" then you should not be tempted by this. It is simply terrible.
Star Trek: Discovery: Stormy Weather (2021)
Can't do it much longer.
I'm really trying to enjoy discovery, being a life long Trek fan, but it's so obviously not made for my generation. I want an exciting sci-fi show not some emo drivel. It's all too emotional and dreary, instead of providing the escapism I want it just plunges me into a universe of negativity. It's become so bad I've unfortunately had to remove two stars from my show rating. It breaks my heart to do it and I hope to never have to do it again for any Trek show.
Level (2021)
Comedy gold.
This had me almost wetting myself with laughter. The complete and utter lack of understanding these people have could possibly indicate some serious mental deficits.
These people are what happens when you let the village idiot breed.
Star Trek: Discovery: All Is Possible (2021)
I'm really trying
I love Trek but Discovery is testing me. Everyone is so over emotional which is becoming draining for a sci-fi show. It's hard to describe exactly what is wrong but if it's an indicator of how humanity is going then we need a quick shift of direction. The show was fairly entertaining to start with but then Burnham decided to try and fill the universe with tears and now we have Book on a season long depression. Some of the character work is unbelievable, in a bad way, as they've left us with 2d characters with nowhere to go development wise. It's all becoming tedious as this show is clearly aimed at a young market now.
The History of Flat Earth (2017)
Comedy gold.
This is actually one of the most amusing things I've ever seen. The total lack of scientific understanding is beyond belief.
Have a couple of beers and just laugh your socks off.
SAS: Red Notice (2021)
Just average.
I watched this on a whim when I had nothing else to see. It was just average, it was fun enough to watch just don't put much thought into it. Tbh this is an ideal movie to stick on in the background, just glance up if you hear anything interesting.
Star Trek: Discovery: Su'Kal (2020)
Growing weary.
Season 1 was ok, season 2 was pretty good, season 3 started strong. Unfortunately it soon whimpered out. Everyone cries or whispers, story moves at a slow pace, and some weird decisions from command.
Tilly is horrible and completely the wrong person to be in command, I quite liked her initially but now she's just like a nervous child. Burnham seems to just do what she feels like, in between crying and whispering, with few consequences. Crew generally make suspiciously inept decisions.
I'm hoping it picks up but this recent development regarding the cause of the burn is a massive letdown. Not sure this show has the steam for another season.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020)
Rubbish aimed at kids.
Number one problem I have is that this is obviously aimed at teens. All that melodrama and angst combined with dull characters and super slow story progression. Tbh I really don't think I'll finish the first season as I'm obviously not in the desired demographic, I'm middle aged and have a brain.
Oh and you'll probably wonder why in a world where humanity is almost extinct that none of these kids take the walkers as a real threat. So many times they could simply kill a small group but instead chose to wrestle them or slowly run away so they can still be followed. I find myself actually rooting for the undead.
It's a shame really as Fear is on a good streak this season, it's really picked up, and TWD is back on form also. I guess this was released to maintain good/bad ratio 😉

Black Summer: The Stadium (2019)
Terrible season finale.
The series was up and down at the best of times but this finale was junk. Half the length and they forget to shoot the scenes containing any acting or dialogue.
Seriously this episode is more like the action scenes from another episode. It's got action but absolutely nothing else.
V-Wars (2019)
Standard Netflix show.
Standard Netflix show, good idea, although not massively original, decent production values, acceptable acting, atrocious writing.
The biggest issue I have with this show is the same as most other Netflix shows, horribly poor writing. Seriously, some of the dialogue is designed to put you to sleep out is so weak and often predictable.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Finally watched.
After finally getting around to watching this I'm left wondering why everyone got so crazy about it. It's a pretty good series but nothing special, it's not my favourite genre though.
The story is engaging and the scope of things can be impressive but they really messed things up at the end. No spoilers but expect to be let down as the writers appear to have pretty much given up by the last episode.
The Flash: So Long and Goodnight (2020)
More meh.
No spoilers here but damn this show is losing momentum. The last couple of seasons have been gradually going downhill and this season is no better. It's almost like they write a good 3 episode story and then stretch it to a full season and just fluff it out with rubbish.
Altered Carbon (2018)
Strange one.
Not going to waste much time writing as the other reviews are pretty accurate. First season is a solid 9/10 but what happened with season 2? I'm being generous to give it a 4/10.
Blake's 7 (1978)
Taught me a lesson.
See this when new at a young age and apart from being a great series it taught me a valuable life lesson, don't always expect a happy ending.
Ignore the crappy fx and immerse yourself in the story. Lovely bit of nostalgia.
Bumblebee (2018)
Pretty weak.
As a kid I loved transformers, I even enjoyed the first two movies when they eventually came along. Then it went wrong, sequels got weaker and then this comes along.
Weak acting, weak script, weak storyline. Looks the part but lacks substance which is pretty standard for movies these days unfortunately. If I'm honest this seems to be aimed at young children.
Worth a watch but zero rewatch appeal.
Black Summer (2019)
Painful to watch.
I had high hopes but I'm afraid I agree with many of the reviews here. I ended up disappointed and ultimately finished the series feeling frustrated and cheated.
I'll mention the obvious, they never shut doors. The stories are weak, characters are weak and incredibly stupid, seems to completely lose its way at times, the list goes on. The absolutely most frustrating thing is watching the idiots try to kill a zombie, dozens of body shots to put one down, sometimes. Does it really never occur to try a headshot? Hell in the last episode one character shoots one in the head and it instantly goes down, what does he do after that? The moron goes straight back to chest shots. Spoiler, the final episode is very short.
Series 2 would be watched *IF* they address these issues. It can be saved but there is work to be done.
Watchmen (2019)
Not what I expected.
So I was hoping for a series actually related to the comics but obviously I was wrong. This is just another example of lazy American TV shoving politically correct messages in your face instead of a decent story. I doubt I'll get beyond episode 2.
Zombie Tidal Wave (2019)
Fun for what it is.
The people who made this know exactly what it is and they have fun. Just like Sharknado this is insanely stupid, the writing is pretty bad, the effects are plain rubbish, and most of the acting is poor. This film is great 😀 just stick it on and enjoy the cheese.
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
I should've liked this but...
... It's total rubbish. I usually find something enjoyable even in the worst indie zombie flicks but this has nothing.
I can't blame the actors but if in honest this whole thing just doesn't work. It's not funny, it's not scary, it's not interesting, and if I hear that damn song one more time I'll probably smash my laptop.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Is this the end?
No spoilers here.
I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. This movie is a seriously weak entry into the franchise and I blame it on the writing. I honestly think this franchise is dead in its current format, even my kids are losing interest and that's a real turnaround from how feverish they used to be about the x men.

Star Trek: Discovery: Through the Valley of Shadows (2019)
Great episode.
I must say season 2 has been far superior to season 1, and this episode doesn't disappoint. I must admit to being a huge fan of Pike, that guy is a legend. As a lifelong fan I'm unfortunate enough to know exactly how his life turns out in the not too distant future, thanks TOS, but I'll enjoy the ride for now.
After Life (2019)
Another stunner.
I'm a Ricky Gervais fan to a degree. I think he is a great comedy actor and the stuff he's written has been great. I went into this after only seeing the trailer so I expected something that was predominately comedy.
I was very wrong.
I'm not going to say anything other than this operates on several levels, it actually gets pretty deep and is more than capable of provoking an emotional response. Seriously worth a watch.
Extras (2005)
Fantastic.
Ricky Gervais may not be great with stand up comedy but he is a legend when it comes to this kind of TV show. Not much I need to say that the other reviews haven't stated but you really won't regret watching this.
It's great to see celebrities playing twisted versions of themselves, Kate Winslets phone advice is classic and the version of Ross Kemp he portrays is extremely funny.
