The Sandman (2022)
It's Missing Something
Let me preface by saying I'm a fan of Neil. I've read every book of his including Sanadman comics. First season of American Gods was in my humble opinion one of the greatest things in TV history.
But I'm beginning to think he is just not a very good showrunner. Honestly his work seems to be quite difficult to adapt for the screen but this can be no excuse for a bad adaptation. I was quite bored when watching it. It felt very soulless and clinical to me for some reason. The casting choices doesn't really help it's cause either. Apart from Morpheus, Corinthian and Desire, most of the cast seemed like they didn't belong in this universe. I can't fault the actors though, this looks like more of a showrunner problem.
It the end, Sandman did not really feel like the passion project we have been waiting for the last 20 years. It's not bad, it's just boring and lifeless.
