Please give this movie a chance!
1 October 2012
this movie isn't about a gay man who goes on a string of dates because he wants to have a frivolous marriage to some guy.... And the main character is played as a genuine nerd who we all meet and know in real life. This seems to be some of the issues people tend to have about this film, some of whom have not even seen it!

Paul is a gay man who lives in the real world, he isn't picture perfect as far as the gay stereotypes go ( though he is really handsome!) and he doesn't have strings of unknown sex encounters and he doesn't do drugs and go clubbing as many other gay stereotypes insist we all do all the time, he is a man who is looking for love.

This film and funny and realistic with a group of friends who some have and others only wish they had which make the film thoroughly enjoying. The chemistry between the characters of Paul and Jim is engaging and also refreshing to have a couple of regular men who are looking for everyday, real, fantastic love ( if that happens or not you will have to watch the film ).

at the end of the day this film isn't about a guy who wants to get married just for getting married sake, he wants to get married in a world filled with governments and family who may be against him. Give is a shot, laugh at the funnies and take in the very relevant message that this film perfectly delivers.

In Search of Dr. Seuss (1994 TV Movie)
8/10
Maybe we need a little more Suess now days...
14 September 2007
When I think Seus, I think of witty rhyming stories with bursts of color and humor. I think of a world that he created which boasts many inhabitants including the Cat in the hat, The Grinch, Horton the Elephant, The Sneetches, to name a few. Where did all these important symbols of our time come from? Well, this is what In Search of Dr Seuss shows us, the man himself. T Giesel. Without destroying the colorful world which is Seus we are shown his childhood, the dramas he went through being an outsider which formed his own opinions which he voiced through his witty drawings against racism and Hittler. We learn about his marriages, his opinions of war, what inspired him, where the name Seus came from and ultimately his death. Through out this documentary we the audience get a rare glimpse into the true nature of some of these stories we might not have thought too deeply into since first hearing them as children. That said this documentary celebrates his life and I would suggest it appropriate for children. Maybe that is what we need more of today for our kids, the simplistic and innocent stories which can teach so us, even today, so much.

Must see for all Australians
20 May 2006
As a 22 year old young Australian I was very excited when I came across this documentary series so I could see what had happened in my country before I was born, and what my people had gone through in war and conflict. As a Seaman in the Royal Australian Navy I was fascinated to see what harsh conditions those of the Australian Defence Force had withstood and how lucky I am to follow in their footsteps. This series has given us the chance to see how Australias views on war have changed and how our country itself is different from that which our great grandfathers were born into. For those who want to know more about what Australia truly is, than this series shows it to you in full. 10/10.

Colour of War: The ANZACs (2004 TV Movie)
10/10
Must see for All Aussies and New Zealanders
5 February 2005
I watch this series of documentaries as a 20 year old, about to enlist in the Australian Royal Navy in a few months. I thought I had a good grasp of the world wars, but I was wrong. Seeing in actual colour men and woman of Australia and New Zealand, hearing our accents and seeing how scared and brave they were totally blew me away. Seeing how our nation was in the 1930s, the deep loyalty to England. Even though they were scared, they did what they had to do, and not only offered their support but their soldiers lives. This documentary provides a great deal of detail about the ANZACS (Australian New Zealand Army Core) and their countries in the time of war. I defy anyone to watch this and not have a deep emotional response.

Bottom 100? Come on guys, the movie rocks!
31 January 2004
How can anyone not like this? Okay, it's a conceit that Barbara can just become Batgirl, but come on guys, we are watching a movie about a bat and a bird who fight crime! I was thirteen when I watched it for the first time, and now I'm twenty I find it just as enjoyable. It's fun, it takes you for a thrill ride and gives you a good time. So back off next time when you have a go at this movie, just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to put it down. I am a fan, and I know there are heaps of us out there.

Batman and Robin rock!

Jack (2004 TV Movie)
10/10
Fine example of film making
21 January 2004
This film show shows us the life of a young man Jack. He is a normal teenager, who's life is turned upside down after his parents divorce, and he discovers his father is in a gay relationship. Jack must now not only come to terms with his own problems as a teenager, but the realization that his parents are actual people too. Every actor in this movie is amazing, being a teenager myself I wasn't sure I would be interested in this sort of movie. The 'gay' story on the flipside of a heterosexual teen being identified as having a gay father and how he must deal with the social backlash, gave me a new perspective something not many movies to do tell well now days. The story is simply about a teenager coming to grips with the world around him. Using great story, terrific acting and brilliant filming techniques I think everyone should take a little time to watch this movie, and learn what it has to teach us while being entertained, 10/10

Toys (1992)

Give this movie a bone already...
8 November 2003
I'm not sure what people expected from this film when they put it down. It's a movie about a Toy factory, it's funny.. and it looks a little deeper into the weird and wacky world we are raising our children in.

I find it to be entertaining on many levels. First there is the slapstick sight gags (the smoking jacket), than the 'come on, we've all done it' line (watch it to find out what I'm talking about) which, like many others is an adult joke that doesn't rule out kids finding it funny too.

So if you like good music (closing of the year, is in my opinion all all time classic), laughs and something to take you back to your youth than I suggest this movie. 8/10.

Rock On Girls...
7 July 2003
The Three Angels have been all over the TV, showing how good friends they are, and that they had fun making it. So, I went in expecting a fun, cool time which is exactly what I got. The action was spot on, I mean I love to see these girls kick butt, and how confident they are, it's great. The acting was excellent and I laughed all the way through it. I could see these woman were having a blast. And those people who put it down because it's "unexplained powers" you've missed the point of the movie, these girls are the best of the best. If they were average, they wouldn't be angels. Everyone see it, 5 out of 5

The Forsaken (2001)
Kerr....
7 July 2003
I'm not a fan of Dawsons Creek, by that I mean I never got to see it but if I can ever watch it I will, but I have heard of Kerr Smith and it was the only reason I watched this movie. What I found, however was actually a really good and in parts scary, sexy, vampire movie. People say it's not original, I think it is. The vampire lore has been modernised (modernized) very well in certain tv shows, but Forsaken Desert Vampires really did scare me, and I felt something for the poor people who I felt were just like me in this horror nightmare being chased by vampires. If you dont like great acting, scary scenes, drama or great music than don't watch this movie, cause it has it all. Plus it has Kerr in a singlet and cars, what else do you need?? I was 17 when I first saw it, and think it's great for people in and around that age bracket.

Dark Angel: Pilot (2000)
Season 1, Episode 0
You'll Be Hooked.....
7 July 2003
Imagine the government is creating a super child, with abilities superior to that of ours, they are fast, strong, they are warriors... who seek meaning. That's what this show is about. Max is one of these soldiers who is on the run from those who created her. She with the help of a good guy Logan will try and find the others like her who escaped. This show works on many levels - first the action with the great effects as the X5 soldiers kick butt with matrix style moves, secondly the drama of this girl trying to fit into the 'normal' world and the relationships she creates. The acting is great, the story lines brilliant. I was 17 when the show first started, and since the first episode all I want was a barcode on my neck like the X5 (which, just before i turned 19 i received, thanks to the tattoo guy). I recommend this show to anyone who likes a good action, sci - fi or drama, as its a mix of all and a lot more.

Cruel Intentions 2 (2000 Video)

Awesome... totally rocks
7 July 2003
I'm a teenager, i was seventeen when I first saw this movie and I think it was great. I love the original, don't get me wrong but this movie allowed us to see how the 'mighty do fall', so to speak. Which I think adds to second movie. Those who put it down, however you might find are out of the age bracket this movie was directed at. Robin Dunne is one of my favourite actors, basically when he is in something you know your in for a great performance. I found he with Sarah Thompson and Keri Lynn Pratt gave an edgy and sexy (very sexy in the shower and park scenes) performance which I enjoyed and have enjoyed many times over. So no prizes to people who put this down just cause it's a sequel prequel or whatever it is, just see it as a good movie thats a companion to something great and buy the dvd like i did. 5 out of 5.

Dont miss it, it's great
7 July 2003
Magical, creative, memorable, genius, technical, unique... I think think of many other key words to describe this movie, it is one of my favourites of all time. Jack Skellington is king of Halloween, the world who creates our holiday. Well Jack discovers Christmas and tries to make it his own. What makes this charming story so special is a technique called stop motion is used, the whole movie is made up of singing and movie dolls. Sound a bit to much? Watch it, I bed you, you wont regret it. Danny Elfmans score is amazing, I used to listen to the soundtrack walking to school every day. And Tim Burtons story is just amazing, I love all his work. Grab this one for the family, especially around Halloween or Christmas, it's a great treat.

Ground Breaking? Well... yeah.
31 December 2002
The Opposite of Sex does what Don Roos set it out to do. It brings the subject of homosexuality in all its forms to light in a hard hitting, funny in your face joy ride - but yet it's not a 'gay movie'. Ricci is wonderful as Dedee, our young 'tour guide' to this strange journey. Through her eyes we see her world of lies, deception and confusion. At times you might not like her, but thats what is great about the movie, it pulls you in. If your into witty one liners, a fast story line and terrific acting (two thumbs up to Lisa Kudrow!)than this movie is for you. After a movie that makes you think about other peoples lifestyles and situations? give it a try. As an eighteen year old, I recommend this movie for older teens and up and give it a 8/10.

Mission Top Secret (1993–1995)
8/10
Great Aussie Show
31 December 2002
Mission Top Secret was a show that took Australian kids by storm. Though it didn't have the longest running time I still remember it to this day. A farm just outside of Sydney on the outside looked normal, but hidden within was the control center for the network Centauri. All over the world Centauri agents (all youths) had computer notebooks (modern for the time) which linked them to the network. Together, they could solve crimes and stop evil adults in it's tracks. It's main ingredients were 'kid power', the mix in of technology and the fact that, to many children it seemed like they could one day be apart of Centauri (I myself admit i used to talk into my calculator like I was on the show!). The acting was great, the adventure was always terrific and I shall always remember Mission: Top secret fondly. - Like they used to say "Centauri out."

Superstar (1999)
10/10
Best High School Comedy I've ever seen!!!
22 December 2001
If you like movies that make you laugh, root for the 'unpopular' girl, cry and have a great time than "Superstar" is for you!! The story has been done before, a girl who wants more than anything in the world to be kissed. So she decides to be a superstar. The Characters are very real, and you really start to feel for them.

Saturday Night Live has had a great past with making movies from it's skits, but Mary Catherine the school girl (who smell her fingers) has gone into the big screen flawlessly. I'd recommend this movie for anyone who's ever been young and been in love.

Bring It On (2000)
10/10
For those who haven't seen this movie......
28 October 2001
This review has no spoilers. Bring it on is a movie about two groups of Cheerleaders who have a battle on the stage to see who is the best. One group are the rich suburban white group, and the other are a poorer street wise black group, but this is not a movie about race, it's a movie about Cheerleaders and teens in general. I left the movie with a feeling of excitement and energy. Seeing the way the two groups performed (both female and male Cheerleaders) with all the energy gave you the same thoughts as Charlies Angels did, that you can go out there and do anything you want. Being A teenager myself I saw people my age in relationships problems but also doing what they love to do with skill and grace. This movie can be seen by a whole range of viewers of all ages, it's fun for everyone. Some people may think it's a Cheerleader Spoof story, it's all been done but this movie is the opposite of that. It shows for the first time how hard the cheerleaders work, and how it actually is a sport.

Kirstin Dunst, Eliza Dushku, Riley Smith and the other actors actually learnt how to do the routines, it isn't a shot of them with a smile and then cut to an obvious fill in who does all the hard athletic moves.

If you like movies that pick you up, give you a smile and make you think "Gee, I want to do what they are doing." Than BRING IT ON is for you.

I would recommend this movie for teenage audiences, but it's appeal is wide spread through out the ages. Everyones dated, known or hated a cheerleader so it's all relative.
