Nothing But Yelling
16 March 2024
Screaming and scenes that are too dark to see. That's it. That is the whole movie. Screaming, crying, running, and the occasional wooden one liner that even a child could write.

I'm not even sure there was a script or writers for this movie. We just get one word, caveman style (when there's no screaming) statements here and there. I know Millie is every young woman's idea of perfection however; she is not a good actress and cannot be relied on to carry a movie on her own. Especially when the script is a pile of hot garbage.

This movie is relying solely on CGI and Millie's start power. It's got nothing else going for it. Avoid if you are not a 17 yr old.

Pretty but...
10 March 2024
There is a lot to like and yet there are a few things about this show that are annoying.

Animation is amazing and colours are beautiful. Sometimes the proportions are off tho. Hands will be too big or feet too small. Stuff like that.

The plot is really cool. The world building is intense, too much so at times. In many of the episodes nothing happens. Nothing at all because everyone is going on and on about how their techniques work. Or the math behind how hard they can punch.

The action is also a lot of fun however; everyone seems ridiculously over powered. If they aren't going on and on explaining their powers they are punching each other non stop with no one coming out as the winner. It's a bit anticlimactic.

Don't even get me started on how women are portrayed in this show.

Despite all that I do like JJK quite a bit. Its biggest draw is how pretty and gory it is. Its second biggest is the lore (minus the over explaining that is).

Came back and gave the show two more stars for season two. The second season got so much better! Animation is beautiful, there's more plot, and the women have more to do than be shrewish shoppers. My only complaint is for poor Megumi. He's always getting his ass kicked.

Wrong Actress
10 March 2024
This movie would have been so much better if they had someone other than Bryce as the FMC. Bryce may be half way believable as a nervous writer but as an action star. Nope. Not even a little bit. Bryce is a product of nepotism and is not as talented as everyone says she is.

This was a fun action movie that made fun of spy movies and romance novels. It was written well and acted well by everyone but Bryce. The plot twist was interesting. The characters didn't always make decisions that made sense. The logic didn't always logic but this was a movie that mostly made fun of other movies so not really a problem.

Too Many Kids.
20 February 2024
I like everything about this show unless it has anything to do with the kids. Both groups of them. It was fine when the kids were being mostly kids. The plot lines and dialog ended up taking a hard right straight into adult-ville.

There is no way 16yr olds are debating the rights and wrongs of interpersonal relationship's to that degree. It all started getting a little too Professor X as well.

Yes they're kids but the acting from some wasn't enough to be carrying the whole plot on their shoulders. It would gave been much more enjoyable if the kids took more of a back seat plot wise.

The momma bear part wasn't my favourite either. I mostly zoned out whenever mom and her kids were on screen. They were pretty much pointless. We got way more humanity driven plot from the solider guy and he carried the story well.

Edit: detracted a star because all of a sudden one of the kids is just randomly talking with the heads of the world like he's one of them?? Making decisions for the entire world and everyone just accepts it. Nope. That's dumb.

Too Miserable.
8 February 2024
This show is too much to be enjoyable. It's too real, too intense, everyone is too miserable.

The dialog is good. The acting is amazing. This show is well directed. I don't really have any complaints about the quality of the show.

It is a realistic portrayal of what it's like working in a restaurant. It can be rough however; this show did nothing to try and balance out roughness with periods of levity. It just goes unpleasant and intense non stop.

The characters are just straight up unlikeable with no redeeming qualities, especially the cousin.

I got really stressed out watching this. Why did I end up feeling like I had orders piling up and an argument with my family? No thanks. I don't watch tv to remind myself how terrible life can be. Turned it off after three episodes.

I Wasted $25
5 February 2024
Wow. Is this ever a bad movie. My only consolation is that I rented it at home so I was able to simple turn it off. At least I didn't have to get in my car and drive home.

This is badly written and badly acted. The characters make decisions that don't make sense. Why would the queen and the kings mother respond to a break in? Where are all the dessert people getting all their blood in an abandoned kingdom? Why didn't they just go somewhere with water? The logic in this movie makes no sense.

I usually like Jason Mamoa but damn, his over acting "I'm just a rough around the edges kind of guy" was just too much. *grunt grunt* hair flip *yeehAW* - the end.

My Comfort Show
4 February 2024
This is the funniest, smartest dumb show I have ever watched with Wellington Paranormal being the only exception. While I love this show and am currently on my third rewatch, I have never been able to watch passed when Donald Glover and Chevy Chase left. Thank Jebus Jim Rash stayed.

My only complaints are that Prof Hickey was too harsh a character for Community and that the love interest between Annie and Jeff didn't need to happen.

Community did neurodivergence sooner and better than anyone around. Where Big Bang had you laughing at neurodivergence, Community had you laugh with (with adjacent I guess) it.

The sheer chaos and idiocy of this show had me laughing every episode. Dumb humour is right up my alley. I especially enjoyed the paintball, pillow fort, and hot lava episodes.

Looking forward to seeing the movie one day.

Good But a Tad Sexist.
15 September 2023
This show is quite good and I finished it in one day. The animation is beautiful and the plot is pretty interesting. I watched in dubbed English and the voice work matched up nicely with the animation. I would have given this 10/10 except that it portrays marriage and male female roles within the home that don't work for me. I can't even point to source material from generations who had different value systems because it looks like the manga series is only from a couple years ago. I am guessing that there are some cultural differences and when I looked at the male/female roles through that lens it was easier to ignore my annoyance. The character Miyo was impossible to ignore however. What a wet blanket! All she did was cry, faint, trip over things, and talk about what a burden she was. Oof. If this show got a little tweak here and there, not enough to change it completely but just adjust those male/female roles slightly, it'd be a masterpiece. As it stands right now, it's a bit sexist. Still it's a good enough show that I was able to ignore most of it... except Miyo that is.

Should come With Warning
6 August 2023
I only ended up watching this for nostalgic reasons and even that was pushing it. Other than nostalgia the only other redeeming quality this movie had was Warlock. Warlock was funny but not in it nearly enough while everyone else was tired and boring. First - 2 and a half hours long? Dear god why are movies so long these days!? Second - the comedy is childish and lacks any kind of cleverness or depth. The plucky guardians stick was old a few movies and Christmas specials back. Third - despite being written by 10yr olds it's the most heavy and disturbing content I have ever seen. I am going to have to watch a cute show just to scrub the horrific animal cruelty scenes from my mind. Fourth - I couldn't keep up with all people in this movie. This movie needed to be an hour shorter, dialled WAY back on the heavy content, better writing, and less people in it.

Yikes.

Warning: Spoilers
This was just so bad. I haven't even finished the movie and my hopes are so low about the plot getting any better that I'm here writing my review. This has to be about the worst writing I have ever seen in a movie or show. It's like this movie was written by a 15 yr old taking their first crack at fan fiction. I will probably go look up the writers names and make sure I never watch a movie written by them again, which I've frankly never done before. The mythology was decent, the acting was ok, the CGI was pretty good but none of that can escape the terrible writing. The overly simple dialog, the cringy statements, and the ridiculous verbal regurgitation of a scene that just played out. Ie: Allison running passed her dad and then Scott telling him she's alive. *facepalm* This movie didn't need to be over two hours of verbal torture. Shave out a solid 1/2 of the worst lines and this could have been a much better movie. So glad I didn't spend money on it.

So Far, So Good
7 May 2022
We're only one episode in but so far, so good! I will cross my fingers and hope that SNW keeps it light. I am all in for equality and social justice however, OG Star Trek has always been great at showcasing this in subtle ways. I hope that SNW takes this route, we all know that life kind of sucks right now and don't need TV to remind us. Most people go to TV to escape from the outside world! I would love for this show to show us how life could be while delicately addressing current issues. It would also be nice if it didn't turn into a space soap opera. My only... ONLY... complaint at this moment is the shoulder pads. They are huge! Looks like they are seriously trying to beef up the guys on set. Which is not needed. One star deducted for over the top padding.

Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023)

SSN 2 is a mess.
1 May 2022
Not sure why they changed writers from seasons one to two but it was a mistake. Season one was incredibly entertaining. The plot was interesting and none of the episodes dragged. Season two however, I find myself reluctantly slogging through each episode. I regularly end up grimacing at the really dumb decisions everyone is making or the very cheesy lines they are saying. This season had such potential! Q and Borg? But instead I have to resist the urge to fast forward thru the boring bits... which there are a lot of. This season is too heavily weighted toward character study with very little focus on what could have been one of the best plot lines in Star Trek. It frankly has almost no sense of Star Trek appeal thanks to some overly heavy subject matter that is like a sledge hammer to the face. Previous actors are brought back with no real purpose and only serve to clutter up a sloppy plot line. So they go back in time and tell themselves... "don't let them know we are here!" and what does Rios do?! Bring a couple people back to his ship and show off all the technology!! You've got to be kidding me. They also leave their tec all over the place, get arrested (several times) and get caught doing future stuff on camera. They are written like a bunch of bumbling morons. I only hope the writers of ssn 3 are better at what they do.

Sam Sucks
25 April 2022
I loved this show when it came out and so I decided to start rewatching it. In todays climate I have realized that Sam is pretty awful and took a star away thanks to his "nice guy" energy. I can't remember if he gets better or not but I hope he does because his scenes are mostly unbearable to watch. Good think Eric and Pam make up for just how insufferable he is. Also the actress playing Tara's mom really should have won awards for her acting, she is amazing.

Meh.
7 April 2022
I like Jared Leto and I LOVE Matt Smith but this was still not a good movie. It looked cool, it was well acted but it was just so boring! Jared and Matt were not given anything good to work with. The plot was very dull and full of too many vampire movie cliches. Not even Jared's abs or Matt's dancing could kept me invested for long.

So Funny.
26 March 2022
The title says it all, this was really funny. Better than Sandra and Ryan in The Proposal (although I may be the only person who likes that movie). Thanks to this movie I have decided that under the right circumstances, Channing is funnier than Ryan Renyolds. Sandra and Channing are great together. Daniel was a really excellent bad guy as well. This was a really fun movie and it was consistently so throughout the entire thing. The whole theatre was laughing and the best part is they saved the funnier bits for the movie and didn't waste it on the trailers like most movies do.

The Spitz's are badly written.
27 February 2022
This movie had potential but it ended up being a real stinker thanks to the very badly written Spitz couple. Talk about a one dimensional and boring couple. Adam plays the standard loser man baby who married WAY above his pay grade and treats his wife terribly. Jennifer (flatly) plays the standard naggy wife who is content in picking up after the man baby and doesn't hold him accountable for treating her poorly. You'd think that we could get a well rounded and social acceptable couple than this outdated cliche in this day and age but I guess there are people that are still interested in writing this sexist garbage. I honestly don't know why I watch anything with Adam Sandler in it and to think Jennifer thinks superhero movies are dragging down the film industry!? Replace Jen and Adam, give the new couple an updated relationship that isn't based on stereotypes from 1962 and this would be a really good film. Everyone else was very funny and did a great job.

Dull.
20 February 2022
This show was just so very dull and the only reason I gave it four stars was for the Mandalorian crew and the blue guy (love him). The Boba Fett parts were lazy, boring and relied too heavily on nostalgia with subpar fight scenes and dull dialog. Then there were the Madalorian parts, which were awesome, but didn't fit at all. So it was like watching two different shows, with the Mando cast doing all the heavy lifting.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

Starting to Dislike it.
17 December 2021
I loved this show for the first three seasons but now, not so much. Discovery is starting to get much too preachy and heavy on the long dialog sequences. I am by no means a person who dislikes a lesson in how to properly treat people or discuss feelings, when a show becomes only about that though it gets depressing. Discovery is being dragged down by one depressing, boring and LONG speech after another. Star Trek is about fun, light hearted and progressive exploration. While Discovery has made great improvements in progression the rest has turned into nothing more than Greys Anatomy or This is Us in outer space. I don't watch Star Trek for sad drama space soap opera, I watch it for fun science fiction. I may give up on the show if it doesn't lighten up soon.

Sweet Girl (2021)

So bad.
22 August 2021
This movie is just so bad, I don't even know where to begin. It's a very lazily written movie, full of occurrences that are completely unrealistic but help help the character's plot line move forward. Example one: Jason's character hides in the closet by the front door of a very small hotel room... breathing loudly but the bad guy (who is presumably is an expert at killing people) walks right by the closet to check the bathroom? Example two: Two armed guys in body armour are searching a hotel and yet appear to attract ZERO attention. Example three: A teen girl finds a payphone and not only does she know how to use it, she has change for it and is able to quite easily call the lead FBI investigator in her dad's case. I could go on. It may be a movie but it should be better written than this and have at least a little bit of complexity to it. The only thing that is impressive about this movie is that Jason was kind of ok at crying when the wife died.

One and Two Awesome... Three is a meh.
20 August 2021
I loved seasons one and two but by season three a lot of the characters become insufferable. The fun of a ghost a vampire and a werewolf living together with a bit of drama sprinkled in there in there for seasons one and two was a lot of fun to watch but adding in Nina's preaching and the romantic relationship between Annie and Mitchell pushed it too far into a stressful drama. Annie and Mitchell were better at platonic love, the chemistry just wasn't there and it feels like the writers just threw that in because they had nothing else. Annie's puppy love was rather cringey to watch. Nina preaching at everyone, especially Mitchell, was infuriating. He's a vampire, she's a ghost, he's a werewolf... you can't expect them to follow human rules of conduct. It was all well acted but it should have been written differently and then would have been much more enjoyable. Not sure I'll watch season's 4 and 5.

Not bad.
18 July 2021
The special effects are quite good and the plot is really interesting however, the Maladie character it too over the top. Dial Maladie down from a 12 to a 6 and this show would be amazing, the crazy she portrays is stereotypical and distracts from the show. This character is poorly written and acted, the rest is well done.

Oof...
30 May 2021
I am a episode and a half in and I read it gets better after the second one so I'm slogging thru but I'm not sure I'll make it. On paper this is right up my alley but in reality the dialog is awful, the characters are insufferable, the wigs are BAD, it's poorly acted and there's too much jargon. My hopes are not high, the plot would have to get really REALLY good to over come all of this shows problems.

Boring YA formula
29 April 2021
So I really liked this but also really disliked this. The main fantasy concept of the plot was pretty interesting. The show was very well done. Acted well, special effects looked spectacular editing was good. Etc. Dialog was... meh depending on what was taken from the books and what wasn't. But the standard and boring YA formula really got to me. Someone has really got to find something more interesting than the love triangle between the best friend, the girl with cool powers and the new bad boy. Or the "oh dear we are cold brrrr"... better get naked! I would have given this a 10 if it was brought into the 2021's, given a heavy dose of reality (yeah yeah I know it's a fantasy show) and so feminism. Let her rescue herself, or better yet, not need rescuing at all. Or at the very least, don't make her fall for the first guy. They always fall back to the first guy! Guy No. 1 enters: "I love you, no I don't.". Guy No. 2 enters, "Is this love?"... "Nope". Back to guy No. 1. Predictable and boring but I guess that is a problem for the author of the novel not the show.
