Into the Dark: Pooka! (2018)
NOTHING like Pooka Lives
OK not sure if there is an order but I watched Pooka Lives it was silly stupid but fun enough to be entertaining. Then I watched this one and wow not even close. This is a Danny Darko WTH mind game good in its own genre but nothing like the other one. If you liked Danny Darko and an acid trip dark horror this is your show.
American Horror Story FreakShow: Extra-Ordinary-Artists (2014)
We are who we are
AHS attracts the primal in us all it's like watching a group of friends act out different scenarios that change every season. Yeah its primal they know what we love Boobs and Blood and they give it to us in truckloads. I've been waiting for the actors to turn into the bleeding heart left like the kid on 2 and a half men and turn against it but somehow this groups continuing to enjoy the ride with the rest of us.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
AHS for Netflix
Ok maybe that's a reach this is AHS without the blood and boobs which Ill admit murder house and the "younger" housekeeper drug me into that series, not kicking or screaming. This is a much more classy version of the same idea almost like the UK to the US versions using the same base actors. Great well written with no need to shock or attract via the more primal portions of our brains.
Castle Rock (2018)
I LOVE the concept
I grew up on Steven King so a series created in his universe is PERECT. I will say the small ties take a bit more work then a hardcore fan would pick up on which is most of "us". It is still a fun series but it's lacking anything that's really grabbing me atm.
Vikings (2013)
Still hanging around at the party after the hosts went to bed
Don't get me wrong this series was great but after Ragnars gone they should have ended it and created a spin off with what happened next if the fans insisted. It feels more like two series ad it second one kind of tarnished the first.
Stranger Things (2016)
It wasn't written by Steven King
This show has everything you would expect from a Steven King kid drama it's like they pulled the kids right out of IT or Stand by Me. I watched this show and after every season I expect them to release the fact Kings ghost writing again. The characters are dynamic, real, fun, irritating, and no one is perfect. It's is strange and has a few angles that have still gone unexplained even after 4 seasons. This series was the streaming movie series option bursting onto the scene challenging the hollywood studio hierarchy.
Breaking Bad (2008)
what are you doing here
I didn't watch this when it was on as a Dad I didn't want to see drugs or those who make them glorified. I was wrong and if your on the fence get off it and hit play this will go down as one of the greatest series in my lifetime.
Loki (2021)
Loki is Marvels Harley Quin
Loki is a bad guy with a funny twist that just makes you wonder if theres a better side. Even in his first instance the Hulk vs Loki scene was AWESOME! Puny GOD! Now bare with me on my title I D NOT WANT TO SEE TOM HIDDLESTON in short shorts and tight shirt. He's that dynamic bad guy who you kind of like. I like shows like this I think TOM has channeled the ultimate good bad guy here Alan Rickman. That's spun off onto this series where we get to see Loki with a different path. Heck there's even some psychology here the kid with a bad start, abandonment issues, and a overshadowing perfect brother finally breaks away and figures out there's another path to fill his need to be seen. I like the character, I like the partial, and I'll definitely continue to log in to see more.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Not going head to head with Marvel
I'll give DC props here they had a choice going face to face with Marvel or doing something different. They went with different yes it's a bit bubble gum yes its silly and quirky but you know something, I liked it. Margo Robbie's Harley Quin was an obvious fan favorite even with that train wreck of a Suicide Squad #1. They took her character blew it up into a movie and it was entertaining.
Halloween Kills (2021)
It was getting old but I like the spin
Lets face it the same old horror faces have gotten a bit old. HOWEVER I like where the series has gone focusing more on the "hard to call her" victim. When the camera angles flip and your watching Mike walking confused through the empty house is an awesome new angle. Personally I think Return ended this series where it needed to end but we all know hollywood and the fact there isnt a new idea in town so they'll keep milking this cow. Still I like the focus shifts so Ill stick around, for now.
Day of the Dead (2021)
Politics are NOT Entertaining
Its not bad for what it is I love a bad SYFY Zombie flick even with bullets ricocheting off air vents and Oxygen containers blowing up ..... I understand hollywood lives in their own little world but they need to understand that's not their only audience. If they plan to make further seasons leave the leftist jabs to the politicians and comedians and focus on entertaining all of us. Now don't get me wrong I can take one or two on the chin for a good show but this is SYFY don't get too big for your britches.
