I am STUNNED by the people ripping him and his suffering
10 August 2021
People giving this one star because "all people suffer". You clearly have lost your humanity somewhere. Disgusting. I can't believe the people posting "another millionaire who lost his money" BS on here are anything other than total sociopaths. You should be ASHAMED and horrified. This is a beautiful and vulnerable look at another human being and their life and struggles and triumphs. I suggest you see where you left your humanity along the way.

Disgusting.
21 May 2021
This little jackass needs to be caught. He lacks any empathy for the many people he's hurting. It was awful to even watch him take such glee in what he's doing. Talk about a sociopath. And the people supporting him via record labels etc are just as disgusting.

Recasting is very difficult
18 November 2019
I have loved this show, but the show runners have under-estimated the bond that viewers formed with the previous cast. It's just too disconcerting to suddenly be asked to bond with a whole new cast mid-show. It's also absurd because this begins a year after the last episode of the previous season. I think this is a jump the shark moment, especially if the pace remains so slow.

Ridiculous off-course detour--yet again
30 September 2019
At its best, this show is riveting and emotional. At its worst, we've had things like the finale with Irene Jakob. This latest off the map detour at least has relevancy in terms of seeing all of Allison's self-absorption repeated in Joanie. If we really needed that. But otherwise it's so off point as to be ridiculous--not to mention that it's environmental hysteria at its worst. Also? Has there been a single other episode with only one viewpoint? What a freaking waste.

Wrenching and amazing episode.
22 August 2019
Okay. So I have previously posted a series review wherein I said I was throwing in the towel. But something kept tugging me along all the same. Well, this episode was a rewarding payoff. To me, in the past couple of episodes, the show has found its legs. I'm going to continue on, and I highly recommend this episode. And yes. I'm going to go revise that review. :)

Love the show, hate the flashbacks
21 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Love this show, but what on earth were the writers thinking, devoting so much screentime to a backstory plot that extensive and that only involves one of our major characters?? We are invested in this PRESENT timeline. The flashbacks are draggy and boring because we don't CARE about so many characters who *are not our main characters*!! I would've loved more Deran and Adrian time, for instance, since from all appearances the latter probably is off the show. Or more scenes with OUR Smurf.

I'm seriously so disappointed with this season that I may not watch next season--and I would've given the series a 10 before. In fact, tonight I went back and edited my 10 score to a 6.

I will probably still give next season a try. If things improve and there aren't the laborious flashbacks, I will even probably raise my score. For now, though, I'm one seriously peeved fan.

Love this show, but season 4 is weak.
14 August 2019
Season four is a weak season to a great show. The flashbacks with smurf should be interesting. Instead they're tedious and we never invest in the plot bc nothing INTERESTING is happening. Period. It appears that Ellen Barkin wanted very little screen time in season four and that was the "solution".

Unexpectedly sweet and romantic movie
8 August 2019
Just get past the set up, or at least don't give up until you're past it. This film finds its legs and, thanks in part to a less than humorous first leg, it really catches you by surprise with the romantic tension and chemistry. Really charming. I also loved all the somewhat subtle Pretty Woman references!

Good episode
6 August 2019
It was a good episode but can I just say how sick I am of both Sasha and Jake? The former is just whiney and grating. The latter is such a dunderheaded mumbler, I can hardly stand it another moment. I guess Tom Sturridge's idea of an American accent is to mutter incoherently.

Fave episode of the season so far!
4 August 2019
This episode was powerful and beautiful. There were so many big moments, lots of emotional payoff. It's my favorite of the season so far. Well done.

Incredibly irresponsible show
2 August 2019
This show is horribly irresponsible. Glorifying suicide is NOT ok, nor is it a safe thing for troubled teens to watch.

Weakest episode of the series
18 July 2019
This show is already claustrophobic and quiet. I think the showrunners wanted to magnify that in this horrifying episode. What it wound up being was tedious and painfully boring and sickening to watch. I hated it.

Like an awful lifetime movie
30 June 2019
The whole thing is overwrought and poorly written. Like a Mexican soap opera or really bad Lifetime movie. You know, like the Christmas movies where all the trees are green because they shot in summer. It's just terrible. I wanted to like it.

A beautiful, fabulously made show that gave many hours of joy
20 May 2019
Thank you to everyone involved with this show, from the bottom of my heart. People giving this one star have no idea how many hours this cost everyone on crew and cast--hours from family and children and loved ones. Many hours of missed sleep. Call times on set at 3 am. Shooting till 2 am. Sometimes the same day. I've worked in film and I cannot IMAGINE how grueling it was pouring so much love and professionalism into this show. Those leaving one stars are being so ungrateful for the hours of viewing pleasure all the cast and crew gave them. No person who works hard on a series this intricate, this beautiful, deserves a one star.

Second season tanked this show for me--and clearly others
13 April 2019
I really found the first season very captivating, both stylistically and plot-wise. But season two proved a giant morass of nonsense. Hence my 3. If you can watch the first season as a stand alone, go for it.
