Yanal (2023)
Beautiful movie with some things that don't make sense
Beautiful story, beautiful characters although I don't understand what disease Yanal has.
Also I didn't like the fact that Yanal's eyes were the important body part that could form a whole new Yanal, and in a way replace the deceased Yanal, to me these things are kind of illogical even if this was a fantasy movie, the fact that you can replace a person with another is somehow disturbing, especially using that dead person's eyes.
That idea of forgetting the real Yanal and forcing his replacement is unreasonable and harsh. I wish we could have seen more of the new Yanal's training with Liliane.
Other than that the movie was pleasing, fun and quite likable.
Cellphone (2024)
Disturbingly bad
What a horrible piece of trash. Acting is bad, storytelling is bad, plot is bad. It isn't scary, not even a thriller. It's not even worth to be called a movie. Life's lessons all over the place, just throwing in life lessons, trying to make the movie deep and poetic. Scenes are badly shot, actors can't act.
That's one of the worst movies I've seen, it's disturbingly bad, it lacks creativity and the narrative is weak. I don't understand if this was supposed to be scary.
It's also called cellphone but we barely see the cellphone the whole movie so cellphone is not the main idea of the movie, maybe fear would have been a better title.
Fair Play (2023)
Boring plot that has nothing to do with the description or poster
It's a total failure, the description of the movie, the poster all reflected an idea and turns out the whole movie is about a whole different idea, stocks, buying, trading, finance...
Most people watching don't care about corporate stuff, and don't understand it. Personally these money and numbers things bore the hell out of me to the point that I couldn't keep watching on x1 speed I had to speed it up to x1.5 and I would have stopped but I wanted to see what's the whole idea is about.
Also I think that it doesn't make sense that she didn't leave him and didn't pay attention to the first signs. He rejected her since the first day she got the promotion, she kept klinging onto him till the very end although a character like hers is set to be smarter than this and a powerful strong women would at least notice the signs and act based on it.
What's good about the movie is that it's real when it comes to showing how an alteration of power between a man and a woman could trigger a man's ego and lead to major changes in a relationship to the point of destroying it, and that's how most men are built, they need to feel powerful, that's why gender roles is an essential, major characteristic to build a successful relationship.
The guy's ego in the movie is off the roof, he's selfish and controlling which reflects weakness in his personality, all this made the movie too realistic and that's where its strong point of it lies. Other than that the rest was a waste of time.
Lo imposible (2012)
Not just a movie but a one of a kind experience
Now that's a movie worth watching. It's real, it's deep, it brought me to tears.
I can't describe the feelings and the roller coaster of emotions I've had while watching this film, it's out of this world.
It's not just a movie, that's a one of a kind experience.
Not to mention Naomi's level of acting is out of the roof and she definitely deserved an oscar for her performance.
Also the symbolic presence of those kids.. feels like they're all angels helping people, especially Lucas who saved many people along with his mom. If that's not the definition of an angel I don't know what is.
That's easily my favorite movie, if I could rate it 100/10 I would.
When They See Us (2019)
20/10, a story very well executed, an excellent job, a masterpiece
This brought me to tears so many times, the characters are portrayed in a very detailed manner to the point that you feel their innocence especially Korey; their soft souls even as they grow up, they're still those kids. It's a very heartbreaking story and I think the show did those kids justice, perhaps it didn't help heal them but it helped in showing how unjust the system can be, how harsh and cruel detectives, prosecutors and police can be. It shows how many people have lost their souls, their love for one another.
I wish for those kids peace, happiness and success from the bottom of my heart and always remember even if you do feel like you are not loved, you are left alone, nobody cares about you, there's always someone out there praying for you, loving you, waiting for that moment to give you that hug and tell you I love you brother no matter what, don't be afraid, I'm here for you.
To sum up, if I could give that series a 20/10 I would, it's definitely a must watch.
The Age of Adaline (2015)
Old in wisdom, young in spirit
One of the most amazing movies I've seen. It's incredible how Adaline gained wisdom all those years, in the way she talks, the look in her eyes, the way she acts, she is old in wisdom, in cleverness, in enlightment but young in spirit. And Blake Lively did an outstanding job portraying this mysterious, deep, sage character.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
A masterpiece
This is not a simple series it's a masterpiece. The narrative style of the series is surely the best thing about it. You cannot watch this piece of art without being captured and haunted by the story. I felt like a kid who's being told a story. It's labeled as a horror series but it's not so scary, it's romantic, frightening, mysterious. And as always Kate Siegel never ceases to amaze us. I got to a point where as long as Kate Siegel is in the movie or series I'll automatically watch it.
The Guilty (2021)
Your own way of imagining things
One of the best movies I've seen, it's a whole new concept that intrigues your imagination, so each viewer sees the movie in his own way. Jake Gyllenhaal performance was incredible, this is a must watch.
7 Prisioneiros (2021)
Authentic and real
It's a really nice movie, so authentic and realistic but I'm kind of disappointed by the ending I think it should be more to it, I'm disappointed it ended that way. But overall the whole movie is captivating, interesting and it sheds a light on illegal labor and human trafficking.
