Vikings: Valhalla (2022)
Enjoyable
I enjoyed the series, even though I don't agree with casting a black actress for the role of a Viking Ruler. I think this show worked for me because of the story (even though not historically accurate) and the atmosphere they managed to create. I did manage to care for the fate of some of the characters, unlike other viewers...
I think it's not ok to cast black people for roles that are not made for them just to call the series politically correct. The times of the Vikings were anything but politically correct!!
Lukily in this show, all the main characters were white so that fortunately didn't spoil the historical atmosphere for me!! I'm looking forward to season 2.
Girl in the Picture (2022)
Shocking story and an excellent documentary
The story is so tragic and twisted that I found it hard to believe. Unfortunately it is a true story. :-(
I personally think that Suzanne's parents are very much to blame for what happened to her as Floyd is. They could have searched for their daughter (TV shows, newspapers etc.) but they didn't. They completely failed her as parents and that makes this story so devastatingly tragic. RIP Suzanne and Michael.
Drain the Oceans (2018)
Very captivating documentary
In my opinion, very well done. You just want to see more of the misteries that lie deep in the waters of the Earth.
I don't understand the bad coments, really I don't!
The Power of the Dog (2021)
It was good but could have been brilliant
I liked this movie. It had some very good performances and the landscapes were gorgeous. I had however my struggles with the slow paced story and couldn't figure out why some characters behaved the way they did. For example Rose becoming and alcoholic and depressed after she married George.
I think it's a good movie altogether.
Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives. (2022)
Hard to watch
What is the point of this documentary: should we feel sorry for Sarma? A woman who had everything in the beginning and lost it all, because some guy manipulated her. Really?
I think she is a mentally unstable person (lack of empathy, narcissistic personality maybe) who most probably knew up to a point what she was doing. She hurt and disappointed so many people and didn't seem to care except for her dog. Very sad...
Bridgerton (2020)
Season 1 was great, Season 2 a disaster
2 stars for some good acting, like for example Anthony and Penelope. But OMG what a waste of time season 2 was!!! It should have been at least 4 episodes shorter. The main story was so cringe...
I think season 2 was bad also because Kate was completely miscast. Simon Hastings was also portrayed by a black actor but he was behaving like an english aristocrat and he showed feelings!! This is the problem of season 2. Both Edwina and especially Kate were behaving like foreigners and I could not believe why Anthony who was looking for a woman like him fell in love Kate Sharma = an idian woman behaving like one. It was really dearing to cast 2 black women to play 2 aristocratic english women in the 19th century, but to make them behave like foreigners was too much for me...
The romance between the Indian Kate and the Englishman Anthony did not convince me at all. They had no chemistry probably because she had a stoned face and a fake smile most of the time. Why on earth did they choose this actress?? And why are people saying she did a great job?
So I felt that the whole season 2 was like a satire because of the historical inaccuracy. It's like making a movie about Nelson Mandela and casting a white actor to play the main character. That' how off the casting for Kate and Edwina felt to me...
Also Eloise was extremly annoying and she was behaving like a young bored chic from our time. The only character I was really interested in was Penelope.
Inventing Anna (2022)
Soap opera feeling
I watched episode 1 and then only episodes 6-9 and didn't feel that I was missing any information. I think 9 episodes were way too long!!
I think that Anna Chlumsky was miscast for the role of Vivian. Her acting was ok, but she kept on making weird and annoying facial expressions 99% of the time... She has a lot of wrinkles on her face and at first I thought she was 53 or someting, when in fact she was around 40 when these series was filmed?! Why on earth do you want to look like 53+ when you are only 40 years old??
The Witcher (2019)
Season 2 was very disappointing
I enjoyed season 1 and was really looking forward to season 2. Well, I watched all 8 episodes of season 2, even though I wanted to stop watching the after episode 6...
Season 2 could have been a masterpiece, but unfortunately it is a mess: very slow paced, too much useless dialogue and absolutely no chemestry between the characters. You end up confused and bored.
Yennefer who was a very seductive and witty presence in the first season was quite washed out in the second season. There was nothing special about her anymore. Ciri was in the End very annoying being preocupied only with herself during the entire series. How can a 14 year old girl have so many problems in her head and be so negative all the time? Geralt just did a lot of talking and some fighting.
I didn't like any of the characters anymore. I tried to like Geralt but he was actually quite boring himself.
