Metropolis Apocalypse (1988)
Official Selection Cannes Film Festival 1988
A beautiful Black and White montage of poetry and music depicting central London at it's bleakest. Lensed by Star Wars D.P David Tattersall, this early work is a clear indication of world class talent at work. Beautifully Scored by Paul Inder (son of Lemmy from Motorhead)The poem is written by the near legendary underground poet Randala (although she chose to remain uncredited at the time) And directed and narrated by indie cult icon Jon Jacobs. the film also features Marilyn Monroesque Fhiona-Louise as the Whore/Poet, Fhiona-Louise later directed at the tender age of 21 an underground British flick called "Cold Light of Day" which told the true story of Serial Killer Dennis Nielson.
This film played at film festivals worldwide and was an official selection at the Semaine de la Critique at Cannes in 1988.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
A 6 course Meal
I sat a little too close to the screen to have been able to fully appreceate this incredible adventure. I'm just going to have to go right back out and see it again. I wouldn't want to cut anything even though it is a little long. It isn't perfect....The Dwarf didn't even get under my skin, which I'm sad about. But Frodo was wonderful as was Aragorn and Gandalf... I liked the Women too.... I don't think this story quite lends itself structuraly to what we are used to in Cinema today and given that I commend Peter Jackson for his extraordinary job. The sets were fantastic, the landscapes perfect, the creatures brilliant, the direction spectacular.
I can't wait a year for the next one... that's heartbreaking.
The only thing I'm really sorry about though, is the fact that I'm not in it.
