Catwoman (2004)
Just watched it... Not as bad as I expected.
It is definitely not the best movie I have ever seen or would I consider it the worst.
The "cat antics" were hilarious. Especially when Halley was chomping down the Sushi.
The story was OK, but that is it. The idea of the of the beauty cream that backfires is interesting. It is definitely reminiscent of Resident Evil's product that the Umbrella Corporation put out.
The soundtrack in the movie was actually decent.
I would not recommend the purchase of the DVD, but hell its worth watch as a rental or at a friends place if they already have it.
I did not have any expectations when I popped the movie in and I enjoyed it. It is just a fun and silly movie.
Penn & Teller: Bullshit! (2003)
Hilarious, informative, and just plain fun!
I came across this gem last year during a free preview of Showtime. I watched all the clips from the show that I could find online and was hooked.
I bought the DVD's and have let all my friends watch it too. It's just a great and fun show! I've learned so much about smoking, death, and much more that I would have never cared about otherwise.
It's presented in a fun format where profanity is key and used perfectly to express Penn & Teller's (OK, not verbally with Teller) feelings towards the topics.
If you're looking to have some fun and learn some stuff at the same time then check out Bullshit!
King Kong (2005)
OK movie, but way to long...
I don't feel like writing a long review, so I'll just comment on the SFX. One gentleman said something about King Kong making Jurassic Park look like Barney.
King Kong himself looked terrific, but the Dinosaur's looked horrible. I honestly believe that the Dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park trilogy (even the original!) look more realistic.
The problem is that most movies now rely entirely on CG and not a combination of CG and animatronics.
Stan Winston is the god of special effects and he did amazing work with the original Jurassic Park. The mix of the two types of effects work very well together and I think we need to step back for a moment and reflect.
I saw Jurassic Park when I was 13 years old and was in awe by seeing Dinosaurs come alive. Now at 25 I still think the Dinosaurs in JP are breathtaking.
One specific scene that comes to mind is when the Doctors step out of the Jeep and Dr. Grant places his body on the Dinosaur that's sleeping. To this day hearing the rumble of its voice through my surround sound system and actually seeing him touch a "Dinosaur" leaves me in awe.
That's all for now... King Kong was an OK flick, but again when it came to the special effects I think JP still stomped KK.
