I love this show to death!!
19 June 2019
FINALLY A show that relies of good story telling, fantastic acting, chalk full of character, and realistic plot.

Ive been so sick and tired of shows that just shove as much graphic sex and violence as humanely possible to cater to the deviants. Lets be honest if graphic mutilation and/or rape entertains you, you need therapy.

These guys know what they are doing, and they got it in spades. I try not to binge watch it, but i keep going, "ok just one more" next thing i know its 4am.

A lot of these characters are wonderfully dispicable. But the most twisted mental person is Rays wife. God being married to her would be worse than cancer, and i actually got cancer, but at least they got meds for that. Ray's screwed cause no matter what she'll get the kids, the house, and the money. I'd love to praise this show more but need to get back to binging it some more!

Wow watching these knuckle heads makes me wonder how they ever got a job tougher than flipping burgers.

good humor, great cast, their stupidity is definitely cringe worthy.

poor story telling
10 June 2019
I wanted to like it. tried to appreciate something different. but seriously this filmmaker felt it was more important to imitate film noir than it was to tell a good story. they had great actors but poor character development. They kept having the actors do this almost totally slow motion stuff constantly. No point, kept thinking my disc was messed up and was going to try to skip to the next playable section. It was rediculous.

People keep trying to compare this "biopic" to Queen's biopic. This needs to stop immediatly. Queens film was an honest chronilogical acount of the band and Freddy Mercury.

This film does not. Its exagerated to the point ya dont know what is true or flat out made up. They also bounced constantly from either telling a story normally or just busting into a musical number for no reason at all. The filmmakers relied heavily on the audiences love of the music, not the quality of the story telling, and sure as heck not on the terrible over acting.

I think their main goal was to ride off the coat tails of the Queen film. Cram as much of Eltons music in as humanily possible. Now having said that, if they wanted to do an artistic interpratation using his music, like they did with the beetles and Across the Universe, that would be more accurate. But calling this a biopic, and further insinuating that he wrote all of his hit songs in 3 minutes....yeah, 3 minutes. Its a flat out lie.

i feel like they betrayed their audience, for a cheap buck. But it worked didnt it.

one of my top 20 favorite films of all time.
30 April 2019
From the story to Deakin beautiful cinematography, and perfect sound track. There are just so many moments that i can comfortably say that they were actually "perfect". The the whole cast was just one of the best ensambles Ive seen. The speach William Hurt (one of my favorites) gave to convince the elders he had to risk everything "for the right and knoble cause" just gets me every time. These people created a harmonious community in hopes to remove everything horrible in the world and create a sanctuary.

I often look at the amish and think how womderful it was. Just a community that lives for eachother and they do so without all the technology that is supposed to make are lives easier. In reality we have every horrible thing happening in the world piped right to our brain.

So in summation, its a beautiful movie, from a world far less complex than modern day society.

Best robin hood that will ever be made
4 March 2019
They keep trying to retell this story and turning it into and action special with no heart but here are three reasons whybit isbthe best. 3. Story is just fun, clever mix of humor action and drama. 2 score is phenomenal and timeless. 1 Alan Rickman performance is superb. Trying to up stage Alan Rickman is about as rural as remaking ET. Forget about it. Only he would think of an evil sheriff who could get so mad that he can't even talk right. And just entertaining alone. Morgan Kevin and just about all the others are well developed characters unique to their own. But people can't stand once in a life time experiences and always want more so they keep trying to remake it but honestly. This was the film that pushed Robin Hood into the lime light in the first place. Probably got thousands of people wanting to learn archery. And just gotta love the time when movies used to be fun and not so melodramatic.

Just a super fun summer flick!!!!
5 February 2019
Great humor. Fun cast. Nothing too heavy or graphic. Just something you can take the whole family to and have a good time. Again fun light hearted humor that just kept ya smiling through the whole thing. We need movies like This fromntine to tine that dont try to go over board or over the top in twists and turns and convoluted plot schemes in a desperate attempt to be edgy. This is just plain good old fashion movie fun. Wish i saw it in theaters. But definitively going to buy.

DO NOT CONFUSE WITH SHARKNADO. THANK YOU

Terrible
1 February 2019
It could have been great. But its over animated, characters were annoying. Peter rabbit was just unlikable all together. Then to make things worse they tried to add hip campy brief 90s college rock in the most lame way possible. They were just over acting everything, almost like they think families and children are stupid or something.

Never saw a movie so good that I lost sleep
18 December 2018
Overall damn good movie. But had a million of these great moments, and interesting points that the story tellers were trying to make. Each of the band mates were so good natured, individually one could say they were heroic in their own right yet fun at the same time. And the only thing as unique as their music from one song to the next was the bandmates themselves. I mean its like "a dentist, and engineer, and a middle eastern guy walked into a bar. But its cool cause it was Queen!!!"

Stupid and ugly

This has to be the dumbest attempt yet. Basically its sex in the city But They take stuff from time to time. Not to be confused with the oceans movie about clever hiests. Its just gals, racooned in make up, shop lifting. At least sex in the city was entertaining. Hollywood would do anything for a buck.

If you keep buying, disney will keep darting em out
8 December 2018
Really how many reboots are we going to do here? Soon there will be a new Aladdin every three years, a new pinnocio, new mermaid, new peter pan. Why, cause Disney's got nothing left, but to buy other entertainment groups and Xerox there own movies. If a movie is weak, they will just merchandise it to the point that it makes kids think they like it. John faveru's version was just fine, beautifully done. Litterally no reason to redo it....ever.

I'd give it 10 out of 10, but last two episodes crossed the line
3 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Everything was just so fantastic for so many reasons, I absolutely was loving this. up until the last two episodes. If ya do something evil to a child, you loose your audience, I don't care what you say, what your pain is, your resolution. Its just a line you don't wanna cross. Gal poisoned that little girl and I don't care what she has to say, her feelings towards her husband, nothing. Just rot in hell and get off the screen.

Same thing happened in "The fly" they deleted a scene were DR Grendal beat a mutated Cat +monkey to death with a pipe, once that happened, no one cares about our main character anymore. That's why they cut it, so you could still sympathize. But in effort to be shocking, they went and did what you'll see them do. And I'm like "really?" How much more shock value did you need? It was already amazing.

20%space flight 80% teen with drug problem drama
16 November 2018
Acting-fantastic Writing-god aweful. Its pretty much done by people who know nothing about space flight so they fell back on "kid with drug problem" like every other show there. Only watched to the end to see if they bothered to film actually going to mars or if all of thr audience was instead going to an A A meeting.

I love the actors I. It. The dog was cute. And funny moments. But the two previous grinch movies made the grinch clearly hate....loath entirely tye holiday. Where as this one made it feel like he was just avoiding. Doing his taxes. He mingled with the whos in a way that didnt even make him seem like that much of out cast. But the fault was in the writing. But still. A screaming goat is worth 8 stars lol

They have you terrified at what was going to come out of someones mouth in just about every scene. I dont know if I liked it or hated it. I appreciated they made Me squirm for a couple hours. But now I think I need to wash it down with like, i dont know, a disney movie lol or something. The people, every last one of them are seriously messed up in the head. Brace yourself to be pushed in the incredibly uncomfortable zone. Should have a warning, "written by some one with psycological issues"

One mediocre song used over and over and over and over
14 October 2018
A+ on costume, A+ set design effects and etc. There are hundreds of great musical and few exceptional ones. What sunked this one was the songs were terrible. It was like instead of singing about something important they sung about doing dishes. And not even in a cool way like the Hobbit. Lyrically terrible. And yes damn near the same song through the whole thing. You feel nothing from the songs but "ok lets get through it, maybe the next one will be better." Sorry to leave a negative review, but yeah, the ball dropped on this.

Why it wasnt technically good
6 September 2018
First of all. Jim was solid as an actor. That wasnt the problem.

To heba dark film or nior that doesnt mean every damn room amd every damn scene to be incredibly underlie. It was like they lived in a country without color and light bulbs. And the DP had the camera 2 stops short of correct exposure. Se7en was a daeknfilm but they still lit their damn subjects.

Everyone looked miserable and emaciated. It looked like the land of the depressed. I wouldnt wanna live there on a good day.

Slow burners are fine and often rewarding. Like in the godfather and etc. But you need to reward your viewer. Step it up every so often. That never happened. It was just an unrewarding film. You reach the end and have obtain nothing feom it except just being happy to see Jim.

Speaking of I like Jim in serious roles, LOVED 23, wish he just had picked a better project.

Fun kids movie
12 August 2018
Just to preface this that i have a life. Star wars isnt my whole child hood there were other movies too like ET, indiana jones and of course girls. So when people whine about it being a travisty or my favorite, i want nybchild hood back.....they didnt havr a life. So i understand their emotional dependancy on star wars. Sad to say the least.

As to this film, it was a fun kick ass kids movie. Chewie was fun and had a far bigger part. Like all the Star Wars they are just fun. This one definitely had a style onto iys own. But thats Ron Howard. The only movie in the franchise that was bad was roug one but thats cause their two main characters were unlovable, couldnt wait for them to get killed off. One guy shoots people in the back and the other just a miserable character all around. But this film was fun.

Watched season 1 three times now
3 August 2018
If this show feels realistic and close to home, that's cause it was. I'm very impressed with this show in every aspect. Even if they had to take artistic license to help give the audience the all the information at once, that's fine by me. Sometimes you have to. The performance of the characters is just fantastic, Holt is my favorite but the others were great too, I just think His character was really more complex. I never really see him play these roles, just tough guy ones, so I was all but too happy to see him play this character the way he did. The cinematography is just beautiful, the overall delivery fantastic. They stayed away from shock horror but focused on the mind set of these people instead. They let their disturbing mindset be what captivates the audience, then listen to these guys pull it apart and try to figure out why. A point that they made, its all but too easy to just say "They were born bad." but that's just an ignorant cop-out. Yeah they were born, then got the empathy beaten out of them. Its amazing what little triggers starting at child hood could lead to. I think this show is more for mature or educated people, not for those who were looking for horror and on screen death.

Even white trash needs super heroes they can identify with
11 March 2018
This is like if you took good comic book characters, got them hooked on smack, broke them out of a methadone clinic, and decided to make a pointless movie with them. Its really just "Mean faced" dialogue then "round house kicks" then "shooting" then "mean face dialogue". Its text book writing, ya know, if that text book was "Writing scripts for dummies" the fact they tried to pipe in an emotional arc with the one character having a daughter was absolutely laughable. You literally do not give a damn about a single character. And harlequin is just disgusting to even look at. Actually just her "look" alone made me not watch it until years later...Will smith was the only reason I gave it a chance. Thinking maybe it was bad advertising and the thing could be surprisingly good. But nope. Between stupid dialog, stupid plot lines, i cant bend my mind enough to accept this as a form of entertainment. Not without getting myself hooked on smack, check in to a methadone clinic, then watch it on their tv. Just to stay positive the one thing I liked about the movie was the budget, Must have been a nice budget.

The short version.
18 October 2017
Here is the short version. Great costume design. Bad plot. Every chance of building mystery or suspense almost deliberately avoided. Fun actors. A fine example of a manufactured movie. But I will give it this it does have brief moments that are conceptually cool. But its really a movie for kids. They have different needs when it comes history telling I suppose. This one comes down to the director unless he was literally just doing whatever the studio told him too. To quote jurrasic world "bigger....more teeth" but movies like this are just popcorn flicks. Something to do while doing something else.

The sci-fi I wanted to see my whole life.
13 August 2017
Admittedly I don't expect everyone to like it as some folks just want another tony stark or Chris Evans film, Or they same old same old that has been spam handed to use for decades. And they are all fun movies but this one is different, just as FIFTH ELEMENT was. A huge fan of Fantasy and Sci-fi art I'd see online and at Comi-con, I've always said to myself wouldn't that be great to see in a film. FIFTH ELEMENT was as close as we got to it, then we went right back to the same old stuff we always do, Cause Disney knows all they gotta do is slap a picture of a Tie-fighter on a box and they'll make billions, regardless of what's inside the box and its getting old....like 2005 old. Then this film comes along and right off the get go I was hooked. It had the action that I liked about STAR WARS, Alien diversity I liked about STAR TREK, however instead of some stupid doomsday weapon or world conquering ploy. There central theme and message is far more interesting and importing what is "love" really mean, trust, forgiveness, loyalty, vulnerability, also the complexities of a lie. Even when I thought they were pushing a tense moment, I thought for dramatics it was just to take a sec and get that message out there and make our central character understand what was really at stake. Regardless how others feel, I am so glad that this film is now in existence, and I look forward to owning it. My hats off to the people who did it cause I was thoroughly impressed. Even if they had a SFX moment like all Sci-Fi's they would use this special kinda of restraint that so many others failed to do. And was more of a hand over mouth "WOW". I truly Loved this film.

Its really just a well funded fan film
1 January 2017
If you want an opinion you agree with see it yourself.

But generally these are the few reasons why this movie may disappoint you. The lead cast member(s) are miserable, no fun, wouldn't wanna hang out with them. Lead actress shoots a look all the time like a girl friend who doesn't wanna just break up with you, but brain you with a rock. Cant remember a single characters name cause none of them were really interesting, except the father (weapons designer) and the blind guy. THAT WAS IT. I will say them bringing Deceased characters back into fully performing roles was actually insanely impressive. Those were the good moments of the film.

But Darth Vader, wow wasn't just bad, it was insulting. I think the adrenaline woke me up a little at this cartoonish, poorly scripted, wanna be of Darth. Here is a Tip. Darth Vader doesn't make jokes nor use puns. Its so off putting and ridiculous, I was wondering if James Earl Jones even came back for it, it was that far off.

Finally the score, spoiler alert it wasn't Williams scoring it, but you will find that out instantly. There was even a brief movement that was referenced to the arena scene score in Episode 2. Yeah, it was weird, and jarring, came off and on within one measure, didn't fit with the score before nor after. Right then I was saying, there is no way John scored this.

Unfortunately Disney does what it does best. Forget quality, just produce a product with a few beloved space ships, favorite props, and somewhat of a aligning plot to the original. Almost like they shove it in your face, "Here watch it, its star wars ain't it, see there is a spaceship on the box!" And you watch people just gasp and gape and say they love it. I'm like "You are watching the same thing I am." And trust me guys I really wanted to love it, I wanted to see more of the star wars universe, something a little different, something cool and unique. Just don't set your expectations at the J.J. level, just think of it as your friend down the street made a cool star wars fan film. It will be OK from there. But it getting a score of 8, only by people who literally love anything star wars...anything...at all...period

Great story, sets, acting - Ruined by a bad DP and Terrible editor
3 January 2014
I would have given it a 10 had the movie been shot normally and edited competently. But it wasn't, just when you start to get into it the camera blacks out, garbles, changes to different point in the story from a crappy unfocused angle.

Now don't get me wrong I love pulp fiction, 2001/2010, cloverfield, and can even appreciate blair witch project. And I have been longing for a realistic space exploration film for years and thought this was going to be the best thing ever.

But the DP and the Editor screwed the whole film up. The reason to even shoot and edit this way would be to create some sort of unique feel to suck you in to it. IE cloverfield POV made you feel like you were running along right next to them, Pulp Fiction edited in a way that highlighted the restaurant robbery. There wasn't any logic except that they were more interested in making it look like a film edited out of found footage than they were about make us have a good time.

But who cares about us, they got their money, they are sipping back 100 dollar bottles of champagne giggling themselves to death. Cause at least they aren't as bad as Michael Bay
