Black Mirror: Loch Henry (2023)
Pure Black Mirror, and Pure Horror
This one is less about modern technology and instead about the horror of past days' version of it.
Twists that give M Night's best a run for their money I find no qualm in saying this is one of the best episodes of Black Mirror since the original seasons. Its grim, tense and absolutely gripping.
All the actors and actresses absolutely kill it and I like that I didnt know a single one of them save for one character who shows up about a third way through the episode.
If you like a bit of Kubrick mixed with the style of the dude who made The Strangers, this episode is up your alley
Personally, it's a legit 10 for me.
Monster (2022)
Extraordinarily good for a Ryan Murphy show
Lightning gets caught in a bottle here, Evan Peters channels Dahmer in a way that Renner nor Ross Lynch could dream of. Gotta echo two reviewers above saying that it's got the vibe of Mindhunter, and that Peters deserves serious recognition
The supporting cast is phenomenal as well, with Niecy Nash absolutely stealing the show sometimes with her character who desperately wants to help up against clearly slanted and insurmountable odds in an everchanging society with certain constants.. such as unresponsive or, even worse, hostile, police.
Richard Jenkins is fantastic as always.
Its extremely disturbing that the cops handed a 14 year old boy who Dahmer had "zombified" right back to him to successfully murder. That same dude went on to be promoted in his district.
Unbelievable.
Great show. Episode 6 needs awards.
Get Away If You Can (2022)
Not enjoyable :/
Was a strange mishmash of the couple constantly yelling the same thing over and over at each other and then Ed Harris shows up as a seemingly abusive bigot father who hates his son's wife and won't shut up any further than the wife he hates so furiously (and she yells a lot, admittedly).
Pretty cheap seemong flick overall and the best part is the coverart.
