They got it all wrong
21 May 2023
It's a pity to see how the Premier League believed all the lies they were fed about the actual Super League. The Super League was conceived to keep UEFA away from the European international competition and stop them from stealing all the money from the clubs.

This was already done by several European basketball teams back in 2000 and it was such a success that all the other clubs ended up joining their competition and FIBA had to lump it and adapt. Which is proof that Super League has never been a threat to national leagues; it would just be a substitute for the Champions League.

It was also meant to fix financial fair play which UEFA allows certain clubs, whom by the way have debts of hundreds of millions euros, to break time and again. This system makes fairness in competition impossible.

Akufo is despicable but he doesn't represent the owners of regular clubs. He is exactly the prototype of one of those billionaires and also states who buy clubs as if they were toys, injecting tons of money until they get tired of them. They don't care about football or the fans; they just care about making money.

"The Davids could cease to exist altogether", that idea is so preposterous and childish and an absolute lie. The extra money was never going to come from the fans, such rubbish; it would be the part UEFA wouldn't get. Less money for that institution means more money for the clubs, all the clubs. So yes, they understood or they were sold exactly the opposite of what the real project was meant to be. Such a shame.
