Strange Planet (2023– )

Misses the point of the comic
9 August 2023
The comic that this originates from depicts the aliens coming to Earth and getting accustomed to things that we humans consider normal, and putting the minor human grievances/annoyances we experience in our day-to-day lives in very literal matter-of-fact ways. In short, it's aliens experiencing the most mundane things to us as unusual to them.

In this adaptation, the aliens are on their own world experiencing things that they are accustomed to already. They just speak in literal and unusual ways, but this is not the reflection of their inexperience as it should be from the comics. It completely misses the point of the originals, and isn't any funnier than any other mediocre animated series. I'll still watch the rest of the first season to see if it gets better, but as of now it doesn't seem worth bothering with.

You: Missing White Woman Syndrome (2021)
Season 3, Episode 3

This episode has pissed off the anti-vaxxers it seems
4 May 2023
I absolutely love how many idiots are in these reviews complaining about this being a political episode or an 'offensive attack' against these dumbasses; this is a very feasible episode in that not being vaccinated and not having your children vaccinated is a health risk to everyone around you, whether vaccinated or not.

The episode also serves to highlight Joe and Love as being outliers in their community whilst also starting to build the relationship between Love and the neighbour's son, as well as potentially setting Joe up for disaster with the woman who runs the local library.

Great episode both for hurting the feelings of pro-disease morons and for adding to the show.

Landscapers: Episode #1.4 (2021)

What the hell was that?

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed the first three episodes. They were great and really creative, set up like stage-plays with the characters walking through different stage sets as they laid out what happened. I wasn't expecting the first three episodes to be so good; had all four been like them, then I'd give the show an 8 overall. But this episode randomly starts having scenes of an old western, with them riding horses around an old cow-town. These random, completely irrelevant scenes took away from the few genuinely touching and emotional scenes in the courtroom. I get that they were trying to be creative and arty, but the first three episodes did this just right; this one did not at all. It completely ruined the miniseries for me.

Viola Davis' weird lip-pursing is painful to watch
21 August 2022
The show overall is pretty good. Pfeiffer's Betty Ford is the standout, but Anderson's Roosevelt is enjoyable too and all three Presidents are well acted, nuanced, and convincing. But Davis pouting and pursing her lips every time she speaks or closes her mouth is physically cringeworthy. Even putting that aside, she's fairly inconsistent - in some scenes she's a great Michelle (sans lip-thing), but in others she seems more akin to Amanda Waller from the Suicide Squad series. I still recommend watching this though.

Terrible adaptation
23 May 2022
Just read the comic. All around better in every conceivable way; this adaptation butchers virtually everything about the original story which ended up being one of my all-time favourite comic books.
