Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Could have been a great send off, left feeling sad and disappointed.
The positive is it doesn't have Shia LaBeouf to ruin the entire movie it does unfortunately have Phoebe Waller-Bridge who does an equally terrible job.
The first three Indiana Jones are amazing. Even the Young Indiana Jones series is good. I have no problem at all with them making the last two movies, I do have a problem with them making them badly, the casting is the worst and the script is mediocre.
The reason people are so annoyed is that they loved the franchise and feel sad and disappointed with where its ended. I personally like the idea of Indy being dragged into one last adventure at 80+ They could have totally made it work with the right script and cast.
In the future if any casting director is ever doing their job properly Shia LaBeouf & Phoebe Waller-Bridge should never be cast in anything that they want to be good.
The Rookie (2018)
Everyone in this shoots like a stormtrooper.
It's not bad if you turn your brain off and just have it on in the background. The most annoying thing is no one could hit what they were aiming at if their life depended on it... which within the story it often is. My 8 year old can hit a target at a greater range while under intense nerf gun fire 😂 but seriously if real cops found themselves needing to fire their weapon as often as this lot with such poor accuracy they would all be dead.
There is also a lot of pausing and hesitation to let people get away so the episode isn't over in two minutes.
Having said all that it is quite addictive and easy binge watching.
Samaritan (2022)
Wouldn't watch again.
Not totally terrible but not good. One of those where you have to turn your brain off as every single character lacks common sense and the physics, continuity and storyline dont make sense most of the film. It could have been good if done properly.
I actually like Sylvester Stallone, I like cheesy action movies; but there is a good way and bad way of doing these things and this is leaning more towards the bad.
I'm not sure who this is aimed at. Its filmed more in a way that 8 year olds would like, but its rated 12 and has unnecessary swearing in it if it is for kids. Either make a kids film or make an adult film. It's like this is trying to do both and therefore failing.
Oh and the plot twist can be seen coming from about 20 minutes in.
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
Excellent Sequel, in the style of the original.
Very enjoyable and brilliant sequel to the original. Ignore the bad reviews from the internet trolls, this film encapsulates the magic of the original. Just as the 1993 classic if a fun light hearted Halloween film fun for adults and children, so is this. Its supposed to have that touch of goofy-ness, its exactly how it should be.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how well Taylor Henderson plays young Winifred it's like she is channeling Bette Midler; young Mary and Sarah were also excellently cast. Sometimes when young versions are cast in films you just can't see it, but here the mannerisms and everything are spot on.
El hoyo (2019)
Strong concept, terribly weak ending
Title says it all, the overall concept and storyline are interesting and work well also the acting is pretty good. I was entertained right up until the terribly weak ending with the poor attempt at symbolism. It seems like they got to the end and didn't know how to finish it so just said "Ah well lets just make it mysterious and throw in some symbolism cr@p; the indie crowd love that stuff, no one will call us out on it."
Prank Encounters (2019)
Watching this probably kills brain cells.
Im actually a little bit impressed... i think this is the worst show I've ever seen, that takes some doing. Way too drawn out with the worst acting outside of a preschool Christmas play. It's obviously staged, meaning the praked person is obviously in on it. There are much more convincing you tube vids out there with fake prank vids. The whole thing is just terrible.
Daybreak (2019)
Good idea, terribly executed.
What a pile of excrement. Who was this made for? It's rated as a 15+ but the content wouldn't appeal to anyone over 12 or the mentality impaired. I can't imagine how the other reviews are real, is everyone actually stupid enough to enjoy this?
Rocketmen (2017)
Don't bother
Worst thing I've ever seen on Prime. Every copy of this should be deleted/burned immediately!
Rim of the World (2019)
You'll need some biscuits for all this cheese.
This movie is all plot holes surrounded by endless amounts of cheese. So basically it's a big block of swiss cheese.
If they removed the swearing and some of the gore it'd be an ok Disney channel style movie for kids. As it stands it's not suitable for anyone.
