Rock and a Hard Place: Another Night at the Agora (2008)
Terrific!
This is a very well done, expertly made celebration of a lost era in rock and roll history. This is one "long-awaited" documentary that was well worth the wait. Has a lot of information packed into it, but not boring by any means. Interviews and concert mix together well. Johnny Depp on guitar is a welcome bonus. Who knew? Not me! Have we become too accustomed to the over-hyped & overproduced noise that is palmed off on us as rock music these days to truly appreciate its raw & imperfect - and often superior - roots? Rock And A Hard Place: Another Night At The Agora is proof positive that it's well worth the look and listen! What good music used to sound like... And what it needs to sound like again.
Opportunity Knocks (2007)
Very Dark, Very Funny
Terrific performances from the entire cast. Tristan Rogers is hilarious as death! Scorpio and General Hospital fans should be pleased. Tim Powell shines as Morehead; his delivery and facial expressions are right on (and very funny). Suzanne Niedland plays suicidal Luci to a "T". In the opening sequence of shots you can feel her hopelessness as she prepares for the "inevitable". Well shot; tight editing. Funny story with subtle, dark humor. Action confined to one location (the dining room table); I would like to have seen more locations, but not a big deal. Bottom line is Opportunity Knocks left me wanting to see more! And I hope I do soon!
