The Peripheral (2022)
Sci fi for the thick
Boring plot, lots of 'action', endless mystery.... it's one of those shows you find yourself asking after an hour what is going on and why did I bother to watch this?
The actors are committed but the writers of the show are second rate hired help. Amazon only produce 'flops', even more so than Netflix.
The pilot starts strongly, the characters come across as engaging although stereotypically of poor productions overly good looking. The premise is an exciting one and an attractive female gamer who's not just a good gamer but one of the best around hooks in the young males. That warranted the two stars as everything from that point onwards is nonsensical trash.
Inside No. 9 (2014)
Season 7 is the best
There are a lot of great episodes throughout the seasons but season 7 is 10/10, outstanding and I really enjoyed season 6 as well. Getting better and better.
Pulling (2006)
Hilarious comedy pretty special
The writing is brilliant, the actors/actresses are all superb. This is a hidden gem and will gain a following in time due to its quality. Such a shame there's only two seasons but on the other hand two seasons which are brilliant. Quite crude and some people won't like it but really captures my generation well!
Better Call Saul (2015)
This show is a masterpiece
The writing done on this show is brilliant, the production is fantastic, the acting and actors are wonderful, the plot is full of surprises. Some of the greatest tv acting I have ever seen particularly from Michael Mckean aka Chuck McGill but the whole cast are superb. Bob Odenkirk is Saul Goodman to me, arrested for his 'Chicago sunroof' move, extremely funny, twists, action. Kim played by Rhea Seehorn is brilliant and has presence. To conclude however this show ends it's a masterpiece already. The thing that is so sad about this show is that despite having Netflix, Amazon prime etc.etc. Nothing else comes even close to the quality of this except for past glories I.e the sopranos and breaking bad and small handful of other shows.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Morphing into Discovery after a promising season 1 start
The writing is terrible, Picard isn't remotely like the Picard from TNG. We were given a glimpse in TNG of Picard as an old man in an episode and he is completely different to this boring old fart. Q has lost his sparkle and isn't himself. Brent Spiner is great but if only he had been given a half decent script. Guinan has turned super aggressive, it's just awful on so many levels!! This show will make you feel suicidal it's so depressing. I gave 3 stars for Brent Spiners great acting and Q's on screen presence but they are both hampered by the script.
