All Rise: Pilot (2019)
Season 1, Episode 1

No way this show makes it past one season
18 October 2019
I want to like the show but it's really poorly written. It's hard to do a show from the point of view of a judge because they are supposed to be unbiased. Instead we have a judge (former prosecutor) who always wants to help out the defense attorneys. (Huh?)

I don't think you can judge a show based on a pilot, most are ridiculous but this one just gets worse and worse. Too bad

Are you not entertained?

Warning: Spoilers
It's a flawed show for sure but it's highly entertaining. Sometimes it's beyond ridiculous but that's TV today. The best part of this show is that they do a nice job developing characters. Thus far every one has had a "Character's name begins" where they explain how they came to their job.

The cast is incredible. Angela Bassett is the best looking 60 year old woman on earth and I don't know if a woman has played a cop better since Regina King in Southland. Also enjoy Kenneth Choi among other supporting characters.

I'm disappointed they lost connie Britton -- her replacement Jennifer Love Hewitt has never been a particularly great actress but she has a strong performance every now and then.

The Village (I) (2019)

Had potential deserved more than one season
18 October 2019
I wanted to like this show more -- it had some issues like too many uninteresting characters. With so many stories going on (duh it's a village) I found episodes to be crowded and difficult to follow.

It's worth it to watch though -- even as a single season it holds it own

I wanted to like the show

I don't think you can just judge a show on it's pilot but this show was really poorly done despite some strong supporting characters (namely Kelsey Grammar and Russell Hornsby)

Every episode got more and more ridiculous. The court room scenes were ridiculous -- every one people cheering like a football game. I just couldn't get immersed in it after a while.

Had potential but didn't go anywhere, I don't recommend you start it.

If you can turn off your brain you might enjoy this show

Warning: Spoilers
Most of the characters are likeable enough but the show is just so poorly written. I get it lawyer shows have to make things interesting but at least when I watched good Wife I felt like I was watching Real Attorneys.

I am pretty familiar to the legal system and I know that there are compassionate judges as McCormick is as the main character but it's just so ridiculous and poorly done.

Every episode she goes up there and helps the defense but she's a former prosecutor? Wait what?

This show will get cancelled without a question so I encourage you not to waste your time.

Proven Innocent: The Burden of Truth (2019)
Season 1, Episode 2

So much wasted potential
2 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The show has a good premise of a former wrongfully convicted lawyer who seeks justice for other wrongfully convicted people. The supporting characters are solid and Kelsey Grammer is a great rival for our main character. Why does it fall short? The writing is ridiculously poor. Every episode by some obscure

If you know anything about the law it is not even close to reasonable. When the main character Madeline goes off on some self-serving rant that has nothing to do with the case at hand, the prosecutors just watch rather than object. Guilty parties confess for no reason, witnesses with no reason to cooperate are convinced out of convenience to the plot and every episode the court room cheers as Madeline seems to never lose.

Did I mention she punched a girl in prison in front of a CO and was not disciplined for it? It's that ridiculous.

Hated it at first, I like it more each time I re-watch
9 November 2013
The first time I saw this movie I really didn't like it, I had just come off the high of "The Avengers" and let me make it clear, this one isn't as good. That said it is significantly better than Iron Man 2 and that's because the story is deeper and direct. There's a lot less focus on explosions and fancy effects (although there is plenty of that) and more on dialogue and character development.

One thing I like about this movie is that you get to learn more about Tony Stark, as much as I loved his arrogance in IM1, 2 at the end of Avengers he was humbled and that continues in this one. On the one hand I love the suits and the fancy technology but it's Robert Downey's sarcasm and wit that make him so great for this franchise.

Yes there is a big plot twist but it by no means ruins the movie and while I was not a fan of the ending, you can see where things are going towards Avengers 2.

It may not be for you, my only advice is to make sure you watch it again. I was angry the first time I did and thought the movie was a joke, each additional time I've watched it I take something more from it and enjoy it a little more.
