The Twilight Zone: Two (1961)
Outstanding and Memorable Episode
Of all the wonderful episodes of the Twilight Zone, to me "Two" is the most memorable and remains my personal favorite despite its grim subject. I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast on 9/15/1961. Even though I was only 14 at the time, it made a long lasting impression on me. In 1961 the fear of nuclear war was very strong. Only a year after this episode aired the United States was embroiled in the Cuban Missile Crisis, the closest we've come (so far) to a nuclear war.
Watching it again last week made me even more impressed with this work. The images of Elizabeth Montgomery wandering in the ruined and desolate city (lifeless for five years in the aftermath of an apocalyptic war) are still very powerful. The sharp black-and-white film make the scenes even more stark. Also, the background music added to the feelings of her bleak situation.
I love the fact that The Twilight Zone was able to tell a great story in only about 25 minutes! "Two" vividly tells the story of two survivors of a nuclear war from opposing sides and their struggles to overcome their remaining prejudices, fears, and PTSD issues.
I agree with another reviewer that both Charles Bronson and. Elizabeth Montgomery deserved Emmys for their performances. The sparse dialogue (in Montgomery's case only one line) required the actors to communicate most if not all of their feelings and emotions through actions and expressions.
All in all, this was a great episode that has stayed with me for all the years since I first saw it in 1961. Well done to all involved!
FBI: International (2021)
My Favorite of the FBI Shows
I don't understand the bad reviews on this website. I really like this show for many reasons. First, I love the European locals and the great scenery. Second, I like the cast, particularly Luke Kleintank who I remember from the very enjoyable "Man in the High Castle" series on Amazon Prime. The rest of the cast is very able and works well together. It appears that German actress Christiane Paul is moving on, and I'm sorry to see her go. There is a lot of intense action, particularly chase scene through European cities. Also, the Wolf production folks took the time to recruit actors from just about every European country. Does the FBI have international jurisdiction....who cares? It's a TV show and very fun to watch. I also like Tank the dog (a Giant Schnauzer). Hopefully, this doesn't start a trend in getting those dogs, as I have never seen one here. All in all a good show and one I never miss.
