Girl Lost: A Hollywood Story (2020)
This felt real
As soon as I heard the first lines it caught my attention. What makes this movie different it's the beauty of staying away of the hollywoodization. The idea of being exploited, having illegal substances, or alcohol, or being a sex worker is not romanticized at all.
Now, being more objective, this is a movie with a low budget.
The movie doesn't follow a color palette, some scenes had too much brightness (as in the pool scene). The last scene wasn't aesthetically nice.
We get to see some neon color so that we can perceive that disco-party-freedom type of thing.
The acting was a 5.2/10. Some characters were there just to fill a place and that's it. The protagonist didn't transmit that feeling of desperation about being lonely, exploited, or used by several old men with no consent; she was more like "oh. I'm leaving"
At last, I would like to say that I do understand that there is no character development in this movie and I think that it is what makes it real. It's a sad but real ending.
American Honey (2016)
This movie it's not for everyone.
If you would like to see a movie about a good girl thaat meet a bad guy and then they have a happy ending, then this is not for you.
This movie it's made for all my young gang that feels lost, with no direction. The ones that want to feel infinity.
Now talking about the movie itsefl I'd like to summarize the next things:
1. Aesthetically, the job was amazing. The warm summer colors with slightly grain. Blue shades during intense scenes. Shoting small details like flowers, butterflies and bees.
2. The plot was lineal. Usually in movies, theres and introduction, a peak and the ending. However, in this movie, things just happen and I liked it. I didn't know what should I wait or how things would turn around.
3. Yes, the movie it's really long and even though I liked it, it can get really monotonous for some people since it feels like some sort of loophole watching them doing the same things during the movie.
4. The movie is raw. The first scene when Star left her siblings was heartbreaking. They saw her sister as the one who took care of them and then all the things she went through in this movie it's not far away from reality. The message about money while being lost but wanting to dream was real.
5. If this was a series it'd been interesting to see other povs. For example, why Krystal was the way she was? How did she end up being boss? How this the other guys end up there?
6. The soundtrack was really adequate.
At last, I would like to say that I recommend to watch this when your'e home alone and want to see something different and have plenty of time to do it.
