The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Money and ability without the Tolkien Finesse
This effort illustrates the difference between the original creator's artistic and stylistic vision compared to the vision of those without the background or immagination to write anything that could match the written works of Tolkien.
The football player elves and racial inclusiveness are merely modern contrivances that speak to a different vision. The CGI is well done but is used like a gold-plated shotgun. The script is stylistically alien to Tolkien's approach though he might have liked some of the points made, still this is different. The portrayal of Sauron is interesting and I suspect Tolkien may have liked much of such. Efforts like this convince me that original works should have been attempted first before muddling about in someone else's legacy simply because there is not going to be a "War and Peace" epilogue. This is a fake orgasm in that it is fun to watch but is lacking the verity that is desired.
Truly all that is gold does not glitter, though this attempt at mimicking Tolkien does glitter. For some, that may be enough.
Spooked: Scotland (2022)
Scottish Chicken Seeks Ghosts?
Most of the other reviewers have fairly assessed this show as lacking in the quality of its personnel, though the accents are nice enough.
Who in God's name thought to put excessively fearful hunter (Gail) at the forefront of a ghost hunt!? That alone is disgusting to watch and a real drag.
