The Extraordinary (1993)
Creepy Late Night Series
I used to watch The Extraordinary all the time on late night television, it could have just been the host with the deep dark voice, but I found it to be very eerie and probably one of the freakiest shows at that time. The show featured videos that could not be explained and just plain mysterious circumstances.
The Extraordinary didn't last long on New Zealand television, but it had a decent run compared to other shows of 1993. Maybe one of the downsides of this show was that it had a short running time, it could have been the late night time slot for NZ or just the regular time limit, but it could have been a good one hour plus show. It would be great to see some old Re-Runs.
Valley of the Stereos (1992)
A unique Short Film with some great Stop Motion Effects
Directed by George Port, this Short Film has been shown throughout New Zealand schools, I first saw it in intermediate school, hadnt seen it again since just today, but always wanted to.
The Stop Motion special effects are great in this film, the crew must have worked hard on them. With help from Costa Botes and Peter Jackson, you can tell straight away this film is well made.
I really recommend it!!
Bad Taste (1987)
A successful home-grown cult classic..
Bad Taste was made by New Zealander Peter Jackson on a very low budget. But that didnt stop it from becoming one of New Zealands highest grossing films made.
The best thing about Bad Taste, is there are no well-known actors trying hard to impress us with there phone reactions, there are just guys having fun blowing s**t up.
Bad Taste is funny, gorey, and a classic, a top ten film back in 1988, no wonder it is such a great film. If you havent seen it, you have got to rent/buy it.
I give this a 100/10
