Barbarian (2022)
A movie that will keep you on your seat
I played this movie out of curiosity. I didn't read the description and when I tried to watch the trailer, I didn't dare to finish it thinking it might only spoil me. In the middle of watching, I was really curious what was happening in the movie. I created a lot of assumptions on who might be the enemy or what might happen. I can't stay still on my seat and I kept covering my eyes (of course leaving a hole to peak so that I could still watch lmao) because it really gives me that thrill. Especially when that deformed woman started showing up, I can't help but to quietly scream.
All in all, this movie will keep you wondering what might happen next. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I couldn't predict what might happen not until the movie started showing hints about the old man and the obsession of the deformed woman. To be honest, I feel bad for the deformed woman. She may have killed humans but it wasn't her fault why she turned out like that. She must have suffered a lot considering how monstrous her father or grandfather was. I love the contrast between the characters. In the end, it was AJ who ended up being the enemy and it was the deformed girl who actually have a soft heart. She may look bad physically but all she ever wanted was to take care of her 'baby'.
It was a good watch. Love the suspense, the camera works/motion and the cast did pretty well. I think my only complaint is that there are some scenes that are impossible. To mention one, that part when the deformed woman teared off the homeless man's arm just by pulling, there's no way in hell that's impossible. The woman may look like a monster but there's no way she had that kind of strength. Also, I guess that ending wasn't as satisfying as I expected it to be. Sure she did won, she killed the deformed woman even if she knows that that woman has experienced something awful turning her into who she is now/was. And AJ died, I guess that serves as his karma for the bad things he'd done. But there's something missing. I could not tell what but it didn't give me satisfaction. But the movie was really okay, if you would ask me, I would like you to give it a try. It's worth it. You might have questions but you can just google it to better understand after watching the movie.
The Bad Seed Returns (2022)
Could've been better
First of all, I love the first movie and I was hoping to get a sequel because of it's ending. Now for this one, it was actually okay, first half was okay. And I enjoy watching the actress. What I didn't like is the ending, once again she won. I mean, it would be okay if the one who died did something bad but no, they're kind and yet the girl did them so bad. There are also moments where you can't help but to think "impossible" "that's just stupid", I can't help but to shook my head. What I'm glad for is that she didn't kill the baby. I think this would have been great if the girl didn't win, and end up in a mental hospital or in jail. Like come on, you made her a winner on the first one, that's fine enough, put her to jail this time. I thought the red hair girl will be able to solve the problem but the writer wrote her as stupid. She knew the girl is a psycho yet she went to her house, sat there and drink the choco drink the girl gave her. The hell? You really believe she will tell you everything?
I would probably rate this higher if it wasn't for all the stupid scenes and bad ending.
The Seed (2021)
I regret watching this
I watched this because I thought this would be interesting basing on the trailer but I should've known better. First of all, the pacing was too slow. Too many chit chat, so many unnecessary scenes. Then there's the lady, who's trying too hard. I forgot her name but I'm talking about the girl with blonde hair (not the daughter of the house owner). Her role didn't fit her, she looks like she was trying so hard it makes me cringe. And there's this continuous cussing. They kept cussing for like every line. As for the plot, it did interest me, I kept wondering what was that creature and what will happen but I guess the poor acting and bad story construction is the problem.
Don't Breathe 2 (2021)
It's good
I have watched the first movie but almost forgot the first half but I do know that that was a great one. As for this one, I could say it was a great watch as well. I was tensed watching it and I love how the girl was trying to escape the bad guys. But ofcourse there are still flaws on the film. For example, when the guy put a hole on his bro's cheek to make him breathe, on my opinion, the bros acting wasn't convincing at all. And when he ripped (?) His mouth to remove the glue, he didn't seem like he was hurting at all. And for Phoenix (the daughter), maybe it's because she doesn't have that much line but I felt that she was lacking something on her acting. She's not a terrible actress but there's still room for her to improve.
The little twist was good too. I didn't expect that the kidnapper was actually his father. When he revealed that, I know to myself that I shouldn't believe him right away. But as it turns out, he is the father, but ofcourse he will do something bad to her lol. Overall, it was good. Maybe not as great as the first was but it's fine. It still kept me on my seat, wondering what really is the truth and who should I believe. It's just sad that the blind man has to die, sure he did a lot of bad things like what he said, but I dunno, I just felt bad for him because I know he did love the lil girl like her own daughter.
