The Chosen (2017)
Amazing
I am impressed that this film is of such high quality. I feel like I am there , a Jew living during those times if you will. I would highly recommend this series for anyone interested in Christian dramas. I also appreciate the Director comments after each episode it makes me feel like he is truly invested in the film, that he cares for the project. You have my admiration and respect, Well done...
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010)
Very Good Film; Worth the ticket price
This was a very good film with some slow spots but I would have to say that the story flowed very well and inspired emotion which is the mark of a good film with a well written script. Kudos got out to the director and all who put this film together I would say that it lives up to C. S. Lewis original concept and vision
Well Done This film was definitely better that the film that preceded it if you are one of those touchy feely types this film can make you cry as the ending was very sad indeed and was hard for me to hold tears back; which is the reason I have to say that this is a very good film. It does inspire emotional feelings me and my wife were pleased; I would like to have seen the 3D version and may do so before this film runs its course at the theaters.
Tron: Legacy (2010)
This Movie is a disgrace to the original Tron Movie
I have to say that I saw the 3D version and I hate to say it but this has to be the worst movie that I have seen this year, the visual effects are very bright very spectacular but that is it; If you are into light shows this is the movie for you; because that is all you'll get; if you wanted a movie with substance THIS IS NOT THE MOVIE FOR YOU; IT WAS THAT BAD AND I'm NOT KIDDING; I was stunned at just how stupid this movie was there is not and I mean no plot line Walt Disney has sunk to new lows; It was not worth the $11.00 per ticket to see this B Flick.
The plot was terrible along with the acting; this movie lacked vision and substance you get pushed from one bad scene to another and it does make me sad to give this film a bad rap but it was not worth sitting through all of the bad acting just to see the light show and CG effects. It surly does not live up to the original vision of Tron and as a follow on film I would say don't waste your time and money because there are other films playing now that are worth both time and money
Ten to Chi to (1990)
Excellent film
This is one of the best samurai films I have ever seen, the screen images are out standing and the plot line is solid, this film is truly a hidden gem and should be seen. I have seen this film a few times and have enjoyed watching it each time, which is the mark of a good film. I enjoyed the large battle scenes which rival any scenes from the best Hollywood can produce. It is truly refreshing to see such films from non Hollywood sources. I would have to say that this was the best samurai film in its decade and possibly one of the best films I have ever seen. I would suggest this film to any samurai buff or anybody who enjoys a visually stunning film.
The Good Shepherd (2006)
Dreamy account on the creation of the FBI
The Good Sheppard, seems to be a very surrealistic, dreamy account on the creation of the FBI, this film was kind of light on action. I would have to say that Robert DeNiro did a good job as director. I was not happy with the time jumps which seem to happen a lot in today's films (examples this film and All The Kings Men). This kind of film technique requires the viewer to seriously interject him/herself into the film, but this is not the kind of movie which lends itself to serious on the fly study, simply put it is long and drawn out. You can get up walk out and come back and feel like you haven't missed much. But I liked the wide screen version for the excellent scenes. I was just hoping for some more action. If you look on the back of the DVD case it states that this film is "The Godfather' of CIA Movies" well in truth this film could in no way achieve that statement.
16 Blocks (2006)
Good but not the best
16 blocks is a fast paced feature film, loaded with action, I found this film to be average for Bruce Willis, I was not entirely convinced in his role as a corrupt cop, but I think the film is overall; acceptable. Unfortunately this film is the kind of move that you will forget I had to watch it twice before I could write this review, I'm not trying to be critical but it just wasn't the type of film that catches ones attention. I would say this is a good film if you want raw fast paced action. The plot seems to be fair but I would have to question why cops would fight each other with guns, shooting up bars, cars and anything else that got in their way of attaining their goals. This film reminded me of the Clint Eastwood film with the same basic plot line (The Gauntlet, 1977).
Apocalypto (2006)
Good film
This film had a lot of action and was very suspenseful. I would have to say that the film seemed to follow history accurately as far as Mayans being brutal; this film had a lot of violence, blood and gore. On the "down side" this films gritty scenes seemed to rehearsed and unrealistic. The scenes in the Mayan city had an air of Disney fakeness, I just wasn't convinced. But this was an overall good film. I would watch it again; it had a lot of by-the-seat-of-your-pants action and great hand-to-hand combat scenes. Mel Gibson did a great job on this film. I would highly recommend this film to adults, but due to the extreme violence would recommend caution for the younger viewers, sorry but this film is loaded to the hilt with blood and gore.
Deja Vu (2006)
This could have been a great Sci-Fi thriller
Unfortunately could have been a great movie but this thriller wasted too much time on inconsequential facts, most of the movie focused on these little pieces of drivel which in the end did not even matter for example when Denzel Washington was shot in the shoulder and Paula Patton was cleaning his wounds she thru the gauze in the trash can. They focused on this twice once when Washington first went to her home and second when he wash shot and Patton cleaned his wounds. Script writers made sure to focus on such trivial things all through ought the movie. The ending did not seem to match since much of the movie tends to suggest that you can't change the past. If you did not see this film please don't waste your time! The ending would have been great if in the end nothing changed but that is just my opinion.
Sorry to say this but true Si-Fi thriller fans should see this crap for what it is, the script is week like watered down coffee and goes from bad to worse. I noticed a lot of "rave reviews" I feel sorry for the reviewers they don't know poor films when they view them their was just no; and I mean no continuity in the plot line, which was littered with to many Swiss cheese holes. I hate to be harsh but the film seemed to suggest on thing and deliver something totally different. The scenes where he was hit by a semi and survived was just bull and of course we have the total disregard for the safety of the drivers when Washington was playing chicken, following the terrorists; bull, just pure bull. What about all the loose ends which are never addressed such as the ambulance winding up on the barge, and the terrorists with his flack jacket and many guns. Well anyway I would not see if again if I could go back in time, there was no "DeJavu" about this film.
