H2O: Just Add Water (2006)
Deceptive presentation
This show and it's advertising gave the impression it was female centric. But as it progressed, the men took over. One man was presented as docile and turned out to be cruel, another was borderline abusive control freak, and the hunk of the final season was an aggressive creep, but all three were celebrated,in the ambiance. You could tell, in the end, it was produced by men. It started out as promising, as secrets were valued. Then it ended with men having the rights to women, as property, and the essence of the wonder of the mystical nature of secrecy, was excessively undervalued. You put out something like this, you can't afford to take it back. But this show did. The producer used bait, and cheaply delivered and you got your eye candy, so, mission accomplished, I guess. But since there are good shows out there, this isn't one of them.
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967)
Biting the branch to avoid the root
This movie is so 2023. It has relevancy displayed by rationalizations that common things such as age gap difference and love at first sight are reasons why this couple shouldn't be together, in current commentary, so there is much c.y.a. For the real reason they don't want this couple together, which is the premise of this movie. The great Bernie Mac said that interracial Romance is no longer significant, but he was referring to the 'bodyguard' Whitney Houston version. Hollywood scribes are muy comfortable with that. I'm sure Bernie was trying to comfort folks, but that pairing has a dark history, when presented by Hollywood. Slave masters raped 'their' black women. And the black man was/,is looked at as a predator in this context. So the Sidney Poitier pairing hasn't been duplicated in more than,50 years, in Hollywood. But the Whitney pairing has. Two things to look out for, that tell that a movie is holding a mirror: when a critic accused it of being preachy, and when branches are bitten. When the house concierge waited for Prentice and his bride to be to pass her, to don an expression of disgust and dispense with the pleasantries, I could have sworn I was watching a 2023 movie.
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
Unwatchable
The ending is too disturbing. There may be parts that are watchable but not all. Will Smith is a good actor, you pretty much presents life on the screen, if their parts where it seems to be joking, it's more like what people might do in a stressful situation, rather than contrivancy. But there's no way I could watch this movie all the way through. I would never watch it more than once. So I'll just leave it at 50%. When you watch the title, if you haven't seen a movie, and you're susceptible the mainstream media subliminal tactics, you're most likely to assume, that is a comedy movie. Lesson learned is, in case of Will Smith, you don't know what you're going to get.
The 1619 Project (2023)
Truth
There are so many who think they can Hornswoggle us out of knowing our history if we're black. The problem is, a leopard never changes his spots, so all you have to do is look at how things are today, and that's how you know this documentary is true. Problem is, one of the executive producers, left out something very important in the music section, and that person is Oprah. She left out how Michael Jackson made up for the thievery of black music from black artists. Because of her bias against one black man, the most successful entertainer in history, she sabotages her own project. However, this objective reviewer, who is not a member of any political party, calls it as seen, and fortunately, despite Oprah, the fact that she worked with other people, makes it possible, that the final product was not sabotaged. But Oprah's hypocrisy cannot be overlooked. Nor is it an excuse, for those in denial about black history. You see the black still laboring, you see all the executive owners of NFL teams still have white faces. Case closed. You know the history is true. So we'll give this a 10, despite Oprah Winfrey.
Unfriended (2014)
The law
Whether you like it or not, the law is, if you want something great, you must invest something great. You know you get what you give. A paltry $1 million was spent on making this movie. And it shows. You know what they say about loving money. You don't want to spend it, you want to keep it in your pocket, you want a limit on the movie budget. But the fact is every movie where the distributors thought they could get something for nothing, turned out to be nothing. As a song goes nothing from nothing leaves nothing. The script had potential, and there is no denying that a good script never fails. But it must be put into perspective. I truly good script would be inspiring, and make you want to spend a lot of money. Act like you care, why is money such a big deal if you are passionate about the project? Usually the makers of the movie do not spend any money on it. They depend on the studio to do that for them. We all know, that George Lucas pulled $500,000 out of his own pocket, after barely being a beginner and having a couple of hits, in order to make Star wars. The rest is history. So movie distributors, whether you like it or not I'm if you want a really good strong movie that is timeless, you got to spend that money. Only opportunity to put out a message against cyber bullying is definitely a public service. But the makers of this movie messed it up, because you can't skirt the law whether you think so or not. So while they kept much of their money in their pocket, they sabotage their own project. First of all, believe it or not I'm even if you're a fan of speaking foul language, if you contrive it in a movie it always comes off wrong. It doesn't matter what the makers of this movie said, making only 62 million does not constitute a hit. Even if the budget is $1 million dollars. It doesn't matter how much money you spend, you have to make at least $350 million dollars to have a real hit. Because that means a lot of people saw it and possibly liked it, and passed the word on to others, to go see it. This movie was made in 2014, and 62 million dollars is the limit. Don't be so sure of people went crazy to see it online. So we know Hollywood likes to play games, and inflate information, in hopes that Media power will make you believe and go see the movie. It's an age-old practice. The movie didn't get its desired reactions from the audience, so the movie flopped. On the other hand contrary to popular opinion, if you spend the budget that is larger than the box office take, but the box office take is $350 million dollars or more, you have a hit, because a lot of people went to see it. Surely if you spend 350 million dollars and the movie makes 33 million more at the box office, you have a grand success and you show that you are passionate about the movie. The movie gives you what you give the movie. Makes sense.
Teen Wolf (2011)
Two Tylers
Since there are two Tyler's in this show I'll just differentiate them and call the one that I'm talking about, Tyler Superman. He's one of those actors that Hollywood loves, but audiences don't like. He's in way too many things, and he plays characters that are unlikable, when you consider a lot of the Hollywood politics, that feeds into it. Besides sometimes you like an actor in something and sometimes you just don't. The show is okay, but it seems to lend itself so easily to Hollywood's favorite actor too easily in every character that he plays. You got to learn to balance things if you don't want that reaction.
Causeway (2022)
We know all about it
Disingenuousness is a sport, here. This movie is a Master class and how movies are made based on politics. Brian Tyree Henry's character only had to do one thing, and if he did it, he would not have been nominated, that is, Henry. This movie was not about acting, in the upcoming academy awards. All there is to say is, many have been affected. No one's going to be offended. But everything is funny. It does not matter the name of Henry's character. All that matters is the optic, when it comes to Hollywood. Rearrange the optic, and you have leave It to Beaver. But since the optic is as it is, if Henry's character had sex with Jennifer's character, Henry would not have been nominated, and the movie might not have been made.
IO (2019)
This movie could have been a stage play
It was ripe with the idea that the two main characters were on one stage, and the lights could go out and the scenery could be changed and the lights could come back on again. This is the definition of spending practically no money and getting big bang for the buck. It's not so much whether you believe what is being said or not, it's just the inventiveness of the movie The Chemistry Between Two actors which have to carry the movie or the play as they are the only two people seen in the whole movie with extreme rare exceptions. Two person stage plays or screenplays are compelling to this reviewer. And this is one of those. The two actors are exceptional. The movie was written and directed in a way to keep this reviewer seated beginning to end. What is reviewer does not like is an overarching feeling of politics, hence the lowered score. Perhaps if this reviewer wasn't inundated with politics on a daily basis, This reviewer might feel different. Perhaps diversity was needed here, because then, the studio had would limit what Romance there might be, and while that is an atrocious thing to do, it unintentionally, leaves you wondering about the relationship and the child at the end. No Studio head gets credit for that. That's another reason for the low score. But the open-ended suggestedness works for this reviewer.
In the Mix (2005)
In the mixed
Predictable at this combination of diversity would cause irritation. They be okay if it's two women two boys a black man and an Asian man three donkeys two dogs and a pig in an orgy before accepting the couple in this movie. That's the hierarchy. Everyone talking like they're in the mob amongst the non-paid critics. It's believable at this point. This movie is a good movie worth 10 Stars. But the patriarchy mentality that started in the 1800s and continues today is tired. Usher is a good actor, and of course, so is Emmanuelle. There is plenty of chemistry between them. The patriarchy always says there's never any chemistry when it's this kind of diversity. That's you know what ism showing. This particular diversity is vindication for what began in the 1800s. That's why the patriarchy and their minions don't like it.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
' taste makers' lied.
They got 111 million people to watch 2.1 minutes of each episode. Because if people really watched squid game more than the 82 million households that really watched Bridgeton one ship, the makers of squid game would have had four seasons in the hopper and Netflix would have green lighted Four Seasons like they did Bridgeton one ship. The Taste makers cannot stand the snow bunny optic. But Netflix is a pioneer they scored twice first with the Bridgerton one ship then second with the NC-17 right winger trick. As always zeros are complementary below this post. You can tell by the one-liner reviews who's angry. Xo.
Buffaloed (2019)
Feenin to be DiCaprio
First of all the guy who said every actress is feening to be DiCaprio is a misogynist you know what. Next time be objective if you're going to review a movie. I couldn't get through the Wolf of Wall Street it's stank. Zoe Deutsch is very good in this movie but I turn the sound down because I'm tired of four letter words. If you want to see any good movies these days watch silent movies as in sound movies with the volume turned down. Still having to deal with writing a whole lot of words to fill a quota while watching other reviews that are one line long who are the connected people I have to look up in this joint? I need to tell them I should be allowed to write one line reviews. The chemistry between Zoe Deutsch's character and her lawyer was top-notch. Five out of 10 Stars for language if there was no bad language it would have gotten 10 Stars.
Enola Holmes 2 (2022)
I feel sorry for Millie Bobby Brown
Millie Bobby Brown is a great actress. She is a great woman. But she is at the mercy of Hollywood. This movie will Delight Hollywood critics and their Shields and shills. This movie has all the tropes. This review is being dictated by a visually impaired person. I am expecting the jokes and the delays. If you are going to advance the cause of women please don't do it at the diminishment of others, Hollywood. And please don't do it at the diminishment of women the five stars are for the appearance of Millie Bobby Brown alone. Now please let me do whatever it takes to fill out the last of the 69 characters required to get approved. Zeros below this post would be a compliment. As for low reviews this movie will anger misogynists and everything to do with being a misogynist misogynist, because Millie Bobby Brown is in it. Nothing against Henry Cavill. I wasn't able to get through this movie, and this is the general state of Hollywood movies.
