Strange World (2022)
A decent film that is good for families
Not sure why this film get such bad reviews.
The film has a creative and imaginative plot, taking the audience on a journey through a strange and fantastical world. The animation is visually stunning, with intricate and detailed landscapes and character designs. The voice acting is solid, with the characters being brought to life by a talented cast.
However, the film falls short in a few areas. The humor is hit or miss and at times it can feel forced. Additionally, the film lacks emotional depth, with the characters not quite having the depth of feeling and complexity that I would have liked.
In conclusion, "Strange World" is a decent Disney animated film that is worth a watch. The imaginative world, stunning animation, and solid voice acting are all strong points, but the lack of emotional depth and inconsistent humor detract from the overall experience. Despite its flaws, it is still a good option for families looking for an animated adventure.
The Amazing Maurice (2022)
A good adaption of the book
This animated film is based on "The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents", which is a wonderful book that is well worth a read.
Look at the quality of the animation, I found it to be generally good and occasional great. The color palette was fairly standard for an animated film, but the attention to detail in each frame was impressive. The character designs were okay, but not particularly unique or memorable. The world building was decent, but it did not offer anything particularly new or interesting.
The voice cast was good, Hugh Laurie is always great, and the whole cast did a decent job of bringing the characters to life. The humour, emotion, and depth were okay, and occasional great.
So, "The Amazing Maurice" is a decent animated film that has its good points, but also some areas for improvement. The animation is okay, the world building is decent, and the voice acting is entertaining. If you're looking for an pretty good animated film that will pass the time, this could be a good option. However, it's not a must-see film that will leave a lasting impression.
Mummies (2023)
Not that good, nice art and design
Well this film was not that good, pretty to look at and pretty boring as well. I thought it might have had some nice horror elements given the title, but it's just a boring flat comedy. It could have used such a wide history of Mummy films going back to Universal's black and white efforts with Bris Karloff, then done a mash up with other Mummy films including the one from the nineties with Brendan Fraser, and even the one with Tom Cruise, but this is more about spoiled and entitled kids. And I thought the villain was just pulled out of a stock standard box of characters, oh well it is nice and colourful to look at.
