The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
Not as good as it was expected to be
The plot isn't good, and it is not original.
The time lapses are totally unnecessary, and the story just doesn't make sense. The Usher siblings already have done everything by themselves to take control of Fortunato, so why make a pact with someone that won't give anything because you already took it? It just doesn't make sense.
Why confess everything in the end? Just to justify the unnecessary time lapses?
The episodes are too long just for the viewer to see one of his children die, and it's very boring until something happens.
The acting is good, and the character of the lawyer is great.
Arrested Development (2003)
Would be a 10 if it knew how to end.
If this show only had 2 seasons i would give it a 10, the problem is that the writers didn't seem to have a long plan for the show.
The 1st and 2nd season are one of the best comedies i have ever seen, smart jokes, great acting with a lot of improvising (like the office) and a somewhat good plot.
In the 3rd season is possible to see that the show isn't as much funny as it was in the first 2 season, still watchable, i would rate it a 6.
The 4th and 5th season are just awful, Netflix should have stayed away from this and let it be a true classic.
The plot is super lazy, not funny, very confusing, they took nonsense to a new level and completely ruined the show, it's unwatchable, i would rate it a 3.
My advice is to watch the first the 3 seasons and stop, or you will be extremely disappointed.
Harper's Island (2009)
A true slasher, perfect for those who love it.
I watched the show a 2nd time after 10 years, and i liked even more, probably because the genre of slasher isn't so much aprecciated today, or maybe because the shows have been so bad in the last years that i've learn how to aprecciate these classics.
Harper's island is a true slasher, nothing more, and nothing else, and for those who love movies like Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer, you'll definetely love this show, it has all a good slasher has to have, a serial killer with a past and motive, mistery, final girl, paranoia, always misleading, more than one kill per episode, this is a classic.
Yellowjackets (2021)
An entire season of nothing
After seeing the trailer i thought this would be a great show, something new and interesting, but i ended up disappointed.
The show starts on a slow pace, very confusing, but that's ok, the problem is that by each episode the viewer ends up with more questions than answers, the whole plot is filled with holes that don't make sense, they had a great opportunity to write something interesting when the characters were in the woods, instead all you get is girl drama, extremely boring situations, and of course, a crashed plane that took of in the middle of the woods (you can't make that stuff up).
Basically you can see an entire season and feel like nothing has really happened in the show, the only good thing about this show is Christina Ricci acting.
The Office (2005)
10/10 until 7th season 5/10 last 3 seasons
Very funny show, well written, good acting, and the actors have great chemistry, i would give it a 10/10 the same way i would give Arrested Development if they knew when to end it.
Although the show as a whole is very funny, there is one character tha clearly stands out above all, Michael Scott, the character played by Steve Carell is what makes the show so funny, his awkward jokes, crazy ideas and the perfect acting of Steve Carell, is what made the show have magic.
In the 7th season, you clearly see the declining of the show in the middle of the season, that poor writing trying to rush things up since Steve Carell was leaving the show, and all the great actors trying to fill Steve Carells hole in the show, a hole to big for anyone to fill.
In the 8th and 9th season the show stops being funny, sure there are some moments, but overall it was just boring, very poor writing, and there was no magic at all.
Dexter (2006)
Perfect for those who love novels
Great show, a true classic.
As someone who grew up during the beginning of the great shows of HBO like OZ, Sopranos, The Wire, i gotta say that showtime kicked HBO butt with Dexter, i mean, it isn't better than Sopranos, but more morbid.
The show has a different story in all the seasons, much like The Wire, but in my opinion it should have less episodes, like 8 per season instead of 12, it becomes a little boring, and has a lot of nonsense that goes against character, but all is compensated by the way they beautifully present the story, and the acting is just top notch, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter really gave it all on their characters, the way Jennifer represents Debra is oscar worthy, what an actress, should have more credit.
