Les Misérables (2012)
Terrible disappointment
Such high hopes fallen terribly short.
Positives: More in line with the book. The changes in the song order, though jarring at first, made such great sense.
Colm Wilkinson as the bishop was fantastic and again, the ending matched the book.
Negatives: The director's choice to record everything live lead to voice stain that was painfully obvious. The extreme closeups of snotty noses was not necessary.
Hugh Jackman is a great singer, but not a high tenor. Bring Him Home, the showstopping song, was terrible. He rushed it, probably because it was too high and his voice was a wreck.
Missed opportunity with Empty Chairs at Empty Tables. Where were Marius' friends who could have sat at those empty chairs at empty tables?
Russell Crowe! Nuff said
Stick to the 10th or 25th anniversary concerts.
