American Fiction (2023)
Great diverse African American cast
It was great to see that averse group of experienced act experienced actors of the african american diaspora, especially Ms. Leslie Uggams.
My husband and I loved that the "buffoonery" that is INTENTIONALLY shoved down the throats of the public ESPECIALLY the African American community by White America Karens/Ken's who control the media by the perception created about Black people with I hate to say the HELP of some Black people believing that need to "sellout" the real truth to make a dollar on the backs and souls of their own people.
We loved this movie. This is the type of creation needed on the large and small screens to convey the message Black people ARE NOT BUFFOONS!
Three Little Birds (2023)
The Ancestors
It reminds me of the stories that my mom and other older family members would talk about. They were from Arkansas and Louisiana who migrated to Oakland,
Alameda California in the 1950's.
Black people of African descent have the SAME experience no matter where they came from; Caribbean or United States.
Also, the white (European) HATE that was and continues to be prevalent this world especially against Black people of African descent.
But as the world can see by watching this series , which is so fantastic that Black people continue to rise and be the beautiful, strong, determined people they/we are.
The Great British Bake Off: Cake Week (2023)
Others who were worse then Amos
I thought Amos should not have been eliminated since he came in 2nd place earlier in the week. There were others like Nicky and Matt who were at the bottom, yet neither one was eliminated.
The only Black person? You mean there weren't other Black people talented enough to have been a contestant? Hiw are people selected? There is an application process right? I have read a good number of folks of color; specifically Black Britain's apply, but only one or two may get on the short list.
The show needs more brown-skinned people as participants. We are out there!!!
Btw...I believe last season was the shows BEST season.
Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (2012)
Better before change
In 2012 when I first started watching "Finding Your Roots" my family and I were so excited.
My husband parents and my mother were transitioning ftom here and we were their caregivers.. So when this fabulous fantastic new program came on p b s directed towards Black Americans of Afrikan descent we were excited.
As everyone knows Black Americans of Afrikan descent due to slavery have it almost impossible to locate their/ our roots. So to see Black people discover their connection with the ancestors it allowed a new rebirth. But It went downhill when pbs convinced Dr Gates to include non-Black Americans specifically white people.
Till this day I don't understand how we as a group who have gone through much more than any other people due to enslavement being sold and kidnapped from another continent thousands of miles away to this so called new land. And where we were regulated to being blind in finding our "roots" yet white people and other non black people don't have that problem yet pbs thought it was necessary to include white people? I guess to get their approval they MUST be included? It doesn't make sense! That's why i'm no longer a member of p b s because of its bias against Black Americans by always leaning towards white people of European descent and other non-Bkack lands.
I wish Dr Gates would have stayed strong and maybe some other network could have picked him up and kept it specifically for Black Americans of Afrikan descent.
We LOVE you Dr. Gates. Thank you!!!
Flipping the Heartland (2015)
Beautiful Black Real Estate Couple
What can I say i'm now seeing this show in 2023, WHY!!!???? Why are these shows with beautiful black couples involved in real estate a rarity? This should be a norm, but the media continues to create spaces that rarely include black people, Black men, Black women, Black families in real estate. Don't we need a house, don't we need a place that is safe and comfortable that we can call our own?
And most of these shows with black couples are only for one season. By the time we go through the weeds of these different platforms the show has been canceled or not continued and it may have been only for one or two seasons.
My husband and I loved watching this couple do their thing. Please bring them back along with the other Black real estate television shows.
Married to Real Estate (2022)
Black Married Couple Doing It!
My husband and I love watching Egypt Michael. We've been watching for a long time and not only are they talented, gifted, beautiful married couple, but they are a reflection of the millions of people who watch their show beautiful black and smart. It's great to see a married couple man and woman creating beautiful homes for their clients and showing how much fun they have not just being married to each other. But also working with each other. And including their children.
It's nice to see how they Live their life In front of the tv cameras to the entire world. That you can be married, beautiful and intelligent and GAVE FUN!!!
Funny You Should Ask (2017)
Black women not honored
The show is funny my husband and I just recently started watching, but we noticed something, in the pasr12 months that we have been watching the show, the Black women are seated on the first/bottom row. We have never seen any Black women seated on the top row next to the Black man Byron Allen. Only white females are given that honor to sit on the top row. Why is that the case?
You have these beautiful black women comedians on the show but they're always on the bottom row, yet there are white females that are given the opportunity to sit on the top row next to the a POWERFUL Black media owner Mr Byron Allen.
Again, why is this the case? I can only guess!
