MacGyver (2016)
Good show but could have been better
For starters, I never watched the original macgyver. So, I can't compare with it. I personally liked the show and it is a fun, fast-paced and at times riveting. All the characters are great and do a great job in their roles. However, I just can't stand George Eads. I liked him as Nick Stokes in CSI. In this show, he just does not shut up and keeps on yapping. He or the director has to realize that he is not really an "actor" and just a pretty boy. I would have given 10 if he can stop talking and try "acting". Definitely, a fun show to watch though.
NCIS: New Orleans (2014)
Terrible
What a terrible spin off. I love the Original NCIS and never cared much for NCIS: LA and this is the worst of the lot. I know I am most supposed to compare to the NCIS but you just can't help it. The story lines for some episodes seem okay. It is the characters which bother me. Scott Bakula (Dwayne Prides) is good looking guy but a poor replacement for Steely eyed Gibbs. Don't even get me started on Lucas Black. His exaggerated facial expressions and his accent is absolutely annoying. Like a chalk on a blackboard. As the name indicates, it is in New Orleans but you don't need to remains us every few minutes. It gets annoying. I am all for diversity but this show takes it a new level with different accents and drawls. David Mccallum as Doc Mallard is my favorite ME and CCH pounder, not.
Arrow (2012)
Awful show, which will test your commonsense and patience at times
I started watching this show in a rather a circuitous way. I was watching Flash, which I really enjoyed and in one of the Flash episodes, I came across some Arrow characters. My 14 year old son suggested that I watch Arrow first. I just finished all 3 seasons (69 episodes) on Netflix and compelled to write this review.
The first season was sort of fun and crisp moving. Having said that, what started as a "Super hero" show turned out to a day time soap Opera of a dysfunctional family with debauchery, stupidity, ambiguity & just plain O'l dumbness all around. So, why did I watch all the episodes? Simple, the female characters in this show are smoking hot!!. Willa Holland as Thea queen, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak to name a few.
Now, let's talk about some of the characters in the show. I promise that there are NO SPOILERS. 1) Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell): The main character (i.e. Arrow). Good looking and very handsome, no doubt. However, he is little slow witted. Starting season 2, he does not want to use lethal force and that repeatedly comes back to bite him in the a**. I am not a violent person, however in some situations as a supposed savior of the city, you have to use lethal force
2) Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy): Oliver's girlfriend and a wannabe vigilante. How can anybody be so dumb and be a vigilante without any training. She gets her beautiful ass kicked repeatedly. She is really hot and her curves are kicking.
3) Thea Queen (Willa Holland): Oliver's spoiled little sister and is a real babe. Her mid riff is absolutely gorgeous. I don't want to talk about her more and give away some surprises.
4) Felicity Smoak: Blond and brainy (that is not an oxymoron). I just adore this character. She is funny, chirpy and touches your heart with her double entendre sentences.
Rosewood (2015)
Terrible
Where do I start about his terrible show? The cast? The plot or absolute lack of chemistry between the actors. Let's start with the cast. Here we go: Morris Chestnut: A good looking guy but full of himself, pompous J a** driving his Yellow GTO. Oh please, get over yourself. Jaina L Ortiz as detective villa: She got curves and nobody is disputing it. However, she thinks she can act!! Seriously? The less said about the better regarding : Gabriella Dennis (Pippy), Anna Konkle (Tara) and the scariest looking of all Lorraine Toussaint as Donna Rosewood.
This show lacks commonsense, acting skills and moronic at the best.
Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (2015)
Oh hell yes!! Z grade movie camouflaged as a B
A seriously top notch B (Z?) grade movie. I watched this movie as my family was out of town and never laughed so much watching a movie. I am not sure if it's cheesy lines by the legendary Ian Ziering (aka: Fin Shepard) , David Hassellhof, Mark Cuban or the tweets. That was a tough choice. Some of the tweets read: Fin Shepard for the president 2016 or I want a golden chainsaw!!! OMG. As expected the cast if awful. Pretty boy Ziering should have retired after Beverly Hills 90210. We all know what a great actor Hassellhof is. Tara Reid used to be hot. Now she is just flat out old. The saving grace when it comes to the cast is Bo Derek and Cassie Scerbo as Nova is smoking hot. Will I watch Sharknado 4? Probably will because SYFY has cheesy B grade movies but that also means that there will be several B grade actresses exposing a bit too much . So, I am all for it.
CSI: Cyber (2015)
Another example that sequels suck
CSI: Cyber is a classic and long standing example that sequels always tend to suck. Let's start with the cast. Patricia Arquette may have won Golden Globe and an Oscar (for supporting actress) but this show demonstrates why she can never be a lead. For starters she is UGLY (with capital letters) and have horrible teeth. She remained me of Dead pan expressions of Lt. Horatio Caine (that is not a compliment). Kyle vanderbeek is uninspiring and did not graduate from Dawson's creek. Why does Shad Gregory Moss (bow wow) or other rap artists think they can act? The saving grace for this awful show is Charley Koontz as agent Daniel Krumitz and Peter Mcnicol as Simon Sifter. I think this is enough to be published on IMDb. The bottom line "The less said the better about this show".
22 Jump Street (2014)
Oscar for the worst movies goes to this dumb movie
I did like the prequel and I am not uptight to watch an R rated movie with plenty of bad language. Heck, American pie, Hang over, Austin powers and Wolf of Wall Street are some of my favorite movies. However, this movie is over the top and the worst culprit is that over rated "rap artist/actor" Ice cube. He is obnoxious, moronic and absolutely pathetic. Dumb movie with juvenile delinquent comedy. Luckily I used a red box promotion and would not have wasted a cent on this shitty lousy movie. It is so bad; I stopped the movie in 40 minutes. The Movie was loud, crude and not at all funny. Channing Tatum must realize that he is just a pretty boy and will never ever will considered an "actor".
Lone Survivor (2013)
Good movie but could have been great
There is no doubt that this is a good movie. However, it could have been great; if the director Berg used some commonsense (unfortunately common sense is uncommon). Let me start by saying that I am huge Wahlberg fan. My biggest peeve with this movie is lack of logic. Here are team of elite Navy seals who undergo tremendous training and hard work but lacks logic in the field. Really?
I understand the code of conduct in the war but this is not war. The code of conduct should not apply, when fighting terrorists!!. Okay I will let this slide because if the terrorists in the form shepherds were shot, there won't be a movie. Aren't these elite Seals know not to shout and keep quite when engaging a hoard of enemies? Why was Luttrell (Wahlberg) keeps on shouting Axe loudly, thereby giving away his location? I can't fathom it. Don't even get me started about pleasantries exchanged between Shane Patton (Ludwig) and Kristenson (Bana) before their Chinook was shot down. WTF are they chatting in a battle. Get on with the job. Anyway, now that I vented my frustration, I have to say that I did like the movie.
It is sad to see our Seals fight valiantly and in doing so sacrifice their lives. It is a must watch (IF LOGIC OR LACK THERE OF BOTHERS YOU). Just my opinion.
The Family (2013)
Disappointed but Tarantinonisque climax
With likes of Robert De Nero, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones expected a lot from this movie. Unfortunately, it turned out to be disappointing drab movie with little or no direction, sense or purpose. Michelle Pfeiffer was outstanding, funny and stole the show (Great actress but did not expect her to upstage De Nero or Tommy Lee). Dianna Agron was wacky and funny in a way as Bella Blake. While there are certain parts in which De Nero reminds you of Scarface, Casino etc, Overall he was less than his best. Tommy Lee looks jaded and had wooden expressions throughout. However, the climax is Tarantinoni/scorsesesque finish makes up for the lame start. Initially I would have hesitate to recommend it but it is a good watch. If you are a fan of mob movies, do not miss it.
