The Stepford Wives (2004)
I recommend this movie...to no one.
I watched the previews and I thought this was gonna be some twisted thriller that had what it takes for some decent entertainment. The previews mislead you in every way. This movie is boring. It is supposed to be a comedy I guess. To bad it is not funny. This movie has no glue. I felt thrown into each scene with little foreshadow or reason for it at all. I never cared one bit for any character in this movie what so ever. Can someone explain to me why faith hill is sparking and spinning and looping in the beginning? Then later there all humans. The whole black eyeball thing? Are they humans or are they robots? Waste of time, granted there are worse movies, this one only stands to disappoint. 4/10
Bongwater (1998)
Not for everyone
Unlike many of the people here, I did enjoy this movie. It's not going to appeal to someone looking for Half Baked or any other stoner comedy, because it's really a romance. It has comedy elements tied in throughout the film and it does have its moments although nothing is totally laugh out loud funny. The characters are not nearly as ludicrous as half baked (people don't literally go flying out their windows when there stoned), but I felt they were more true to life. It is very much your typical love story backbone. The bottom line is if you hate love stories you will probably hate this. It's like the Chasing Amy of stoner films. I gave it a commendable 7/10.
Spider-Man (2002)
Typical hollywood fare
This is probably the best comic book super hero movie out there. The actors were perfect for their roles and acted them very well. The special effects were pleasing and the action was at a pace to keep you entertained. However, I felt this movie seemed like to much of your typical Hollywood cliché. The love story is nothing that hasn't been seen before and done a million times over nor is the typical movie ending thats been done in a billion action movies the world over. It may be a accurate representation of the comic book, and Spiderman fans are sure to be pleased, the average movie goer as well, but if your looking for something more original you mon as well look elsewhere. 6/10
Donnie Darko (2001)
Amazing!
Where to start. Coming into this movie with the plot outline I read really led me to a totally different place, but after seeing the movie I am thankful it went the way it did instead. It is truly amazing. I have not felt so in awe after a movie since Fight Club. It is just so beautiful. The camera shots, the scenery, everything is so beautiful. The mood is set so well. The plot is mind blowing, really really mind blowing. So much information to process, so many mysteries, so many thoughts it is hard to say anything but wow. I am lost in my chills and my hollow stomach, and I feel thoroughly satisfied. You can not watch this movie just once, it just wont let you. The experience watching this movie is one of the most gratifying experiences I have ever felt. I love this movie. There is nothing quite like it and probably wont be for a long time. 10/10 ...beautiful...
Resident Evil (2002)
I love surprises!
Wow! I went into this movie with doubts lurking in the back of my mind from the horrors of seeing Mortal Kombat but they were quickly blown sky high. This movie rocks the socks! It's nothing sensational or mind bending but why would one expect it to be. And the acting was almost as bad as the video games (is.. that... Chris's blood?). It's action-horror at its best! The plot is ...there, albeit nothing super but it's more than made up for with tons of action scenes. You will jump, and you will jump more than once! Suspense, Thrills, Action...it delivers all three, and its very entertaining. Drool lil' poochies drool! Overall 8/10!
