Magadheera (2009)
An epic fiasco and no lessons learned
Telugu film industry may not be 400 years old but it took just 40 years for the current generation movie producers, actors and directors to ruin it since it has been moved from Chennai to Hyderabad. The same 'ol hype and the same 'ol reception by the avid telugu movie fans. I admit that there is potential but this movie is just another polished turd. The story is just awful. Why would any king arrange idiotic battle games amidst of war? What's all the hype about the lead character? The way charan killed the 100 best Khan's men reminded me of 300, another awful movie. Telugu movies keep defying gravity, logic and common sense. Charan can't even deliver a dialogue without stuttering. Storyline is full of holes. Some scenes are done beautifully but on a whole, the movie is a pain to watch.
3 more hours of my life that I can never get back.
Broken Fences (2008)
4.2?? It's underrated
I've seen people comment that the film is too slow.. but there's no rule in the book which says that a film can't be slow. It's slow because the script is written so.
The movie deals with the character of 'Dillon', a very unlucky son. The story revolves around him and his father.
Also I didn't notice any 'bad acting' in the film. It's a nice movie and I honestly believe that it is underrated. It deserves way more than a 4.2. In fact, the movie is different. The ending is a bit melodramatic but overall it's a good movie.
Just watch it and decide for yourself.
Chugyeokja (2008)
Excellence in Film making
Before watching this film, I had doubts in my mind whether to watch it or not.. the reason being, it's not in English. I thought why take trouble in watching a Korean film. I've checked IMDb and was stunned to see a 8.1 rating. Then I thought again.. this film must have been really good. I highly doubted that most of the films that are rated high didn't rhyme with my taste.
Anyway.. I started watching this film. It started off slowly and as it progressed, I was amazed by the way the story unfolded, the way the director portrayed the characters. Everything was amazing. Acting was excellent and I just can't seem to find any shortcomings in the film.
The climax was superb and I must say that Yeong-hie Seo, Jung-woo Ha & Yun-seok Kim deserve much of the praise for excellent acting.
I'm sure that this film will be a good contender for the next Oscars. I highly recommend this film to everyone (above 15).
Islam: What the West Needs to Know (2006)
A true but chilling presentation of the Jihad & Islam.
This documentary is an eye opener for all of the people who know a little or nothing about Islam, it's ways and it's theory. I'm sure that most of the Muslims who never understood Koran completely would be shocked after seeing this documentary.
The understanding of Islam of the West for decades is fundamentally wrong. The way they think of Islam as a peaceful religion is a blunder. Although it is a complicated subject, the way westerners treat Mujahideen as the people who are against everything what Islam stands for.. shows how ignorant the world has been about the subject. This documentary appears biased in presenting their argument.. but what they said is completely true and Koran is the proof. This is a must see documentary and everyone who wants to understand the mind of a present day fundamental islamist & Islam as a whole must watch it.
