Churchill (2017)
Churchill / Gallipoli
I understand what they wanted to portray with this movie and the actors did marvelous job with it as did the production crew. But somehow it lacked credibility when we know what we know (or think we know) about Churchill.
They clearly wanted to show how tormented and haunted Churchill was by his failure back in Gallipoli during the Great War but somehow I don't see that Churchill in reality had this big problems handling it. And most definitely those were not that much of an issue nearly 30 years later with his career. He could not have become the Prime Minister if it was that bad.
I like the premise though, they just kind of overplayed it.
Kukkia & sidontaa (2004)
Finnish Classic
This is one of the best finnish movies. It depicts the finnish small town life very well. Starts as a light comedy and takes a turn to darker side till the end. Hard to say if it is realistic but have to say that it looks "genuine" or "plausible" to my finnish eyes. I have two finnish movies in my shelf of hundreds of movies and this is the other one and better one. If I should choose finnish movie for anyone I would choose this one.
Casting includes pretty much the best actors of finnish movie scene. The way they build the story is good and the soundscape is remarkably good. Directing is slightly erratic but I couldn't think other way to direct it myself. Including camera work and editing.
One of the most underrated finnish movie.
Van Helsing (2004)
One of the worst movies ever.
This was absolutely below anything I can remember. Idea was great and it had huge possibilities, but yet, somehow director/writer managed totally mess this up. He didn't get anything out of the actors. I'm bound to think that Hugh Jackman really can't do any other role than Wolverines due to this movie, Kate Beckinsale didn't do any better than Hugh.
Films editors most likely aren't doing the job they should be doing. Cuts were strange and abrupt. Dialog was awful and abrupt. Draculas actor? He should be doing something else than acting, or if he would act he would belong to role of doctor Gangreen in some Killer Tomatoes movie series.
Only thing good in this movie when i saw it was my friends whom i was there with. And for the price of ticket we should've headed for a pint instead.
(And I thought Operation Mars and Battlefield Earth sucked were the absolute bottom, I stand corrected.)
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Overrated.
I'm surprised how little negative critic this movie had. Even though it is a good film it really wasn't THAT good. Slow motioned sentimental crying scenes were hardly contributing anything to the story and Moria part was very big disappointment.
