Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: The Broken Circle (2023)
This is not the stuff to inspire people to become scientists, engineers or even lead to real-life beneficial inventions
The characters still behave like children. Like high school adolescents children. Nobody acts like this on duty.
Where's the discipline?
It's rampant, lacking at all quarters. Backtalk to senior crewmembers is the rule. Everyone has feelings everyone else feels obliged to 'splain away instead of being told to shut up and do their job. "It's the future, they're more evolved" trope simply holds no water. TNG, centuries later, even at its worst, had the sense to know what was acceptable military behavior and what wasn't. Strange New Worlds throws discipline out the airlock and substitutes cuddles and commiserations.
They really need a Military and Canon consultant for the show.
Look at the La'An vs. The Klingon Kr'Dogh drinking scene its just bad and makes no sense in Canon.
DS9 "Apocalypse Rising"
O'BRIEN: You know, I'm actually beginning to like bloodwine.
ODO: It's really not too bad, except for the taste.
O'BRIEN: Just be thankful the anti-intoxicant we took is still working.
WORF: Or you would be so drunk you would not be able to stand.
A human isn't going to naturally outdrink a Klingon.
I guess Star Trek is just not for me anymore.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
This isn't Star Trek!
I grew up with star trek and have watched TOS atleast 4 times, TNG about 5 times, DS9 4 times, VOY 5 times and ENT 2 times.
Star trek gave me hope for the future of mankind, made me want to believe in the best of what we could be. It significantly shaped my morals and outlook on life growing up.
And then i got to see Discovery, and it killed all hope in my heart for any future. I would love to live in the world of TNG or DS9, but it would be a nightmare to find myself in the DIS universe.
Watching Discovery made me sad and a more more hateful person and i feel worse about the Star Trek World.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Subspace Rhapsody (2023)
On the nose summaries of what we already know about all the characters
I made my account just to make this review, it was that bad.
I don't mind a swing for the fences. A Star Trek musical is an interesting idea if it were executed by competent, creative people. This was garbage in every way, except that a couple of the actors are clearly good singers. Plot and music wise it was horrible.
There are so many things wrong with this episode like the robotic AutoTune, the bad Lip-Syncing or the lazy writing...
Another of the issues that i have with this episode is that gimmick episodes like this have to be earned and season 2 SNW did not earn it. I don't care enough about the interpersonal drama between the characters to put up with them AutoTuning out a cookie cutter rehash of modern Broadway solos.
This is not the stuff to inspire people to become scientists, engineers or even lead to real-life beneficial inventions (like Star Trek of old).
