Premonition (2007)
Nuh-uh
When the hearse attendants bungled moving the coffin - yeah, that scene. I thought I was watching SNL!
To be fair, I guess I should have watched it longer but after that big whoop, I just didn't have the stomach for anymore. Done!
False Positive (2021)
Positively awful
If I were Pierce Brosnan or Justin Theroux, I would be dying of embarrassment!
While the acting was generally decent and the first half was somewhat engaging, the film deteriorated and laughably bombed at the end. Do not waste your time. Seriously.
What Lies Below (2020)
Cannot believe that ....
I actually spent an hour and a half of my life watching this garbage.
Bleed Out (2018)
Heartbreaking
My heart goes out to the Burrows family. This is my family's story too. There is nowhere to place our anger, sense of betrayal, and deep despair. The system is stacked against the individual - who is not at fault. My mother suffered terribly from a medical error that dramatically affected her quality of life for the next 20 years. Because she was a resilient person, she worked hard to maintain her dignity and to hold on to what capabilities she had. But she never forgave the medical system for their total denial of responsibility, nor did her family. The situation is heartbreaking and immoral.
A Dog's Purpose (2017)
Painful
OK, Bailey is a beautiful, adorable, and smart dog. That's the only good thing I can say about this film. Formulaic, predictable, and maudlin. I rarely walk out of a movie, but I walked out of this one halfway through. There was no character development, no dramatic tension, nothing to make me care about any of the actors except for Bailey, whose buoyancy and love for life couldn't help but shine through. Bailey, I'm sorry boy, you deserve so much better than this movie!
Isolated (2013)
Sorry, I couldn't finish watching this
The entitlement displayed in this film is very troubling to me. This kind of "dropping in" on a culture and feigning understanding and bonding with the people who live there is disrespectful and ethnocentric. I could not continue watching it - heard "they were like family" one too many times. Also, featuring the woman cast member in her bikini in every other shot, when the native women were covered, was painful to watch. Did these people not do any kind of basic research on Papua, New Guinea and its culture before they made this trip? Or did they not care? The lack of responsibility and awareness is just astounding.
