CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Mea Culpa (2004)
"Mea Culpa" review - Ecklie needs an ass kicking
Marc Vann is an American actor, & as this episode proves, one that is very good at his job. As CSI continued into it's 5th season & his role as "Conrad Ecklie" became more of a regular on the show, his portrayal of foil to lead William Petersen's "Gil Grissom" expanded, with the ending of this episode cementing their conflict & adding to the intrigue of the series' future. Vann was tremendous here, thoroughly pissing off at least one longtime viewer (no matter how many times I view the episode), & as always, displaying great chemistry with his longtime friend Petersen. Looking back, I wish the producers had delved more into the rivalry between their characters over the course of the series, as this was one of the last times they truly squared off in a scene before Petersen's departure. But in the end, it's that scene (and Vann's work throughout) that makes this episode a must watch.
9 out of 10.
