AC/DC: Let There Be Rock (1980)
Not bad, Not great
I think some people over rate this video because the late Bon Scott is on it. This actually might be the lowest energy concert video of the band. This is probably due to the fact that this was the second show of that day for the band. Angus Young seems slower than usual, and Bon Scott(never a real high energy live performer) hardly moves at all. The band's performance however is top notch. They play thier songs almost perfectly.
Black Roses (1988)
ok
I think this is a terrible movie. The acting and the storyline are both bad. The special effects leave a lot to be desired. But I enjoyed it anyway. If you like to watch late night b-movies on the weekend, than watch this one when it comes on at 2:30 A.M. sometime. The music is great(Lizzy Borden, King Kobra, etc.) and it has all the awful special effects and plot that you expect. Not a good movie(I wouldn't buy or rent it) but enjoyable.
King Kong (1976)
better than people say
I watched this movie when I was a kid, and loved it. I never knew what the critics said about it until I was older. The special effects were awesome in MOST parts. There are some bad looking special effects in a few parts. I thought the facial close-ups were great, much better than the facial close-ups of the original(which are terrible). A lot of people are saying what a disaster this movie was, but if I remember correctly, it did extremely well at the box-office. It even made the cover of Time magazine. It is unfortunate that most of the people that watch it are looking for flaws in it. This movie has amazing special effects for it's time, and in my opinion compares favorably to the original. Forget about what the critics say, watch and enjoy
House of Frankenstein (1997)
Better than expected
When this two part mini-series was first advertised, I didn't know what to expect. Most made for TV horror movies are poorly written, and have cheap special effects. While the special effects left something to be desired, the writing, and performance of the actors in this movie were very good. There were a lot of parts that I felt weren't needed, but overall, it was good enough to keep my attention. I felt that the unnecessary parts (way too much time on the frankenstein monster) could have been cut out, and it would have been a great TV movie. Cut out the unnecessary (notice I didn't say bad) parts and give it a bigger budget, and it would have been a great movie for theaters.
Overall, it was a good, solid movie, that I would watch again.
