Danjon meshi (2024)
An interesting recipe, but undercooked
Believe me when I said this show has A LOT of potential.
An entretaiment and really creative fantasy story about food and dungeons with a really ineteresting world building, the characters are pretty basic but enoughly charming and with good chemistry between them to carry the show. Also I love the recipes, are absolutely cool.
The problem I have with the show, and the reason why dind't have a better qualification for it, is that it is already starting, and for that reason I said this show feel "undercooked" (get it).
It lacks of a lot of construction in his lore. It has the the ingredients for something tasty, but still has some way to go before it works.
I will be look at this and waiting for see if it gets better.
South Park: 1% (2011)
One of the most inteligent and underrated South Park episodes
I'm truly impress that this it isn't consider one of the all time best of the show.
This episode in general is a solid example of character study. "1%" shows perfectly the psyque of Cartman. Everyone hates him because it's a jerk and an awful person, but his ego is so high, he believes he's always right and people hates him for pure envy, but at the end, where he kills his own toys and creates a conspiracy plot, he gives the reason to his "friends", he needs to mature.
Also there's SATIRE!! Where Jimmy and Butters make a protest against the National Health Organization for how inacurrate his system is in front of a chainfood restaurant, being a critique of how system creates on a base of equality are actually stupid, of the protest and the exagerated attitude the media and authorities had against them, and of how the 1%, the people that is attacked and the pricipal reason of how that system didn't works, they didn't even care of the problem and they prefer still eating hamburgers.
My GOODNESS!! This is symply 10 out of 10 writing.
Seriously, watch this chapter. Is incredible and absolute genius in every sense.
SpongeBob SquarePants: My Leg!/Ink Lemonade (2018)
GREAT! vs Gross
Ok, these two are really, REALLY polarizing episodes.
"My Leg!" It was basically a fanservice episode, but a REALLY good type of fanservice. I like how well construct and developed are the jokes, even if is the same gag over and over. Also had a really wholesome ending. Easily an 8/10
"Ink lemonade", on the other haaanddd..... It's just gross. Simply GROSS!
I don't actually understand the need of new SpongeBob of being that gross, It's not only unfunny, it doesn't feed in a show like SpongeBob.
I can recognize that patrick use really creative ways to scare Squidward, but again, it isn't fun, and if the running gag of your episode is already BAD... you're doing something wrong. 4/10.
South Park: All About Mormons (2003)
The prequel of "Trapped in the closet" episode
This was my first tact with mormon religion. And as only South Park can, this is an interesting analysis and parody of this religion.
When Gary, a kid from a Mormon family comes to South Park, everyone in the cast hates him and incentivates at Stan kick his ass. However, Gary and his family results being unrealistically nice people, at a point it is obnoxious. His family after a family nigth they tell Stan, what are the origins of Mormon church.
The segments of Joseph Smith are really creative, yet respectful, the charm and comedy in these ones is how extremely ridiculous and nonsense the mormon's profeth story is. Representing as an americanized parody of cristhian regilion where he was the only one who can read sacred, ancient scripts on golden tables left by Jesus himself in america.
But what for me makes this episode excelent is the message.
After Stan insults him and his family for his religion and for trying adoctrinates them for his exageratedly nice attitude, Gary talks to Stan and tells him he actually doesn't care if the story of the book of mormon is real or not, cause after all, the message of his religion is being a good being, and he only wants to be his friend, but for lack of maturity, he rejects him.
That's a incredibly nice message for a show like South Park. Cause, as gary says: "Your believes does not define you as a person"
Really cool episode, not so funny, but REALLY significative
9/10.
South Park: The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers (2002)
The perfect parody doesn't exi...
As a great fan of "The Lord of the Rings" and South Park, this is for me a perfect combination.
Everything here fits.
From the references, how well introduced are, the jokes, the stupid premise of a South Park episode about confunding a Porno movie, the roles of the characters, how the kids are "being kids", playing and acting so innocently, on contrast of the parents and how despair are for his stupidy, Butters being Gollum and a Porn addict, one of the best endings of a South Park episode, theat made me laugh so hard...
It's such deservly one of the best episodes of the show. And also works as an amazing tribute of the trilogy itself.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
You just can't said "Phone bad, society bad" and expect people believe is a social commentary
Impress how there´s people thinks that is pretty symbolic when, first, everything in the film happen because it does. Is so ambigue the end of the world.
And second, all the social comentaries are literally spitting in your face bia tedious character and pretentious dialogue.
- Oh please, Im useless without my cellphone.
- I hate people, we buy stuff we doesn´t want.
- The animals are trying to said us something.
And look, I Indeed respect the intentions of "Let the World behind" but the movie focuses so much on that social speech that all ends half baked and superficial.
And what I need to say of that awful ending. What a waste!
