Zoo (2015)
Should have done their homework
They mention the chemical 2-4 D which is an extremely common herbicide used on every treated lawn in America and on most farms. They call it a pesticide which it is not and 2-4D has been used for decades so why is this just happening now? 😁
Community (2009)
Clever, subtle, and poignant
It's almost a spoof of itself. I love this show, while it is very stereo typical it is different than other similar shows I have this genre.
A lot of the references in this series seem to be geared toward older Jen Xers, people born in the 60s 70s that would've been watching TV in the 80s and 90s.
Lunatics (2019)
Right up there with trailer park boys and Peep show!
I love this, for one person to write direct and star in this I think that is pretty amazing!
Of course it's not highbrow but Chris really captures the character of his self centered stars.
Sherlock: A Study in Pink (2010)
Well done, Very enjoyable
Much like any 'modern' (set in present day, as opposed to a recent production set in period) remakes of Shakespeare or Sherlock Holmes, they're not quite the same. Not being and aficionado of either, I must say that after watching this on PBS last night, I found it very intriguing, well directed and acted, and a great pleasure to watch. This is a show that I would definitely add to my collection. I did enjoy it more than Guy Ritchie's Sherlock. Not knowing A.C.Doyle's version that well, I found it interesting to find out the relationship between Holmes' and the British Police/Gov't official. Also not knowing anything about Dr Watson's past, I found his character to be intriguing .
They Came from Beyond Space (1967)
Almost good enough to be a spoof...
This movie was great for period (1967) English scenes and settings. The low-budget effects & props would make this a great movie for MST3K. I laughed the whole way through as props like a colander on top of head to prevent "Space Waves" & "Ray Guns" from penetrating the skull, and high school science class equipment being used to 'examine' people taken over by the 'aliens'. A suspension of disbelief is definitely a necessity for this flick; how did a space-shuttle-like launching area become erected within an old barn without anyone in the town noticing?
The fight scenes were reminiscent of the old Batman series. The B-rate acting and scene jumping was actually very funny, I'd recommend this movie if you need a good laugh without much thought involved.
