Rare Exports (2010)
Excellent for all ages
The twist of how Santa is portrayed is awesome. The story is coherent and keeps your attention alert. There is nothing in the film that kids can't cope with. Maybe it would even have them grow up a little. The acting is super, and the scenery is fantastic. Kids with guns and teddy bears is the cutest thing ever.
The ending is different from the usual lame fanatic American endings, that usually include the stars and stripes flag, hooker heroines and redneck heroes. This one has no immature "out nation is better"-message, but keeps focus on the story itself, which makes it one of the top international films.
Melancholia (2011)
Another Lars von Boring Production
Some people should not be allowed to make movies and Trier is one of them. The boredom of this movie is worse than the suffering I went through with Mel Gibsons Jesus film.
However, if you're in to social emotional competitions, where a "good person" is measured by how much you can pretend to "feel", then this is a great movie.
While we have economical crisis, extreme bad movies like this one is allowed to be produced. People are dying of hunger in other parts of the world, while people sit elsewhere in cinemas eating popcorn, for money that could have helped nature on the planet.
Tales of an Ancient Empire (2010)
Senseless
This type of production should be illegal. It's a waste of money, that could have fed many starving children somewhere in the world. It has no entertainment value. Mostly it seems like a group of former porn film actors had decided to make a non-porn film, but failed miserably. Sure you get to see some tits(which is probably the reason why some praise the movie), but even the tits are as bad in quality as the movie itself.
Val Kilmer? Where? The Val Kilmer I remember was an actual actor! Not a wanna-be porn star.
What I liked about the film, was that it was on DVD, so I could speed it up to finish it sooner. Breathtakingly bad movie.
Sanctum (2011)
Nice film
I think the reason why some people rate this film as crap, is because there is no sex in it, or even some jiggling tits to satisfy their little minds.
This is a survival film. This is the real deal. This is life outside human civilization and all its assumptions about what things may be out there in real life. This film illustrate survival as it is. Rough, hard and merciless.
The acting is fine. As realistic as it can be. I'm not doing any better acting, when I'm down in caves and have troubles.
This is a must see film! There are not big bad monsters or mysterious aliens or any of the sort. This is just realism as good as it comes.
