The Beekeeper (2024)
Can't lie, the action was fun
The only reason I'm giving it a 7 was solely because of the phenomenal and enjoyable fight scenes, and that's a great thing honestly.
The story is about a man part of a hidden organization known as 'Beekeeper' who is set on a path of vengeance for the death of her old lady neighbour. I won't spoil too much, but the plot of the film while it may simplistic, actually gives a convincing enough reason to keep you engaged. It also manages to make you root for the hero like a kid would.
A huge credit needs to go to Jason Statham for his charismatic personality and acting on screen, which made the film so much more enjoyable. The second credit needs to go to the fight choreographer, for the excellently shot fight scenes which make you feel the speed and brutality of it.
While the film may not be too revolutionary, it's a simple film with a great cast and great action scenes, so if you're looking for something not to deep but still likeable and fun, this movie is definitely for you.
Code 8: Part II (2024)
Enjoyable
Following the sequel to the first part of the 'Code 8' led by the Amell cousins (Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell) progresses the story of the previous film while also giving a new plot to look at.
While the overall dynamic and gist of the movie remains the same throughout, if you were a fan of the previous part, you may find this one a bit underwhelming or lackluster. With that being said, this movie is still worth a watch if you have some free time to kill. Towards the end the story does get a bit tense and the villain Sergeant 'King' Kingston while portrayed as your typical manipulative villain, was still enjoyable.
With that being said, this sequel doesn't build too much upon the already existing movie and doesn't bring anything brand new to the table. Overall it's an enjoyable movie with a decent plot, although the character writing could've been a bit better.
Shaitaan (2024)
A Big letdown
After watching the movie I couldn't feel anything but disappointment for it. Our expectations weren't too high but even then it failed to match them.
While the casting is nice and acting from Madhavan to portray the malicious and sadistic nature of his villain role was quite charming, that is pretty much where the list of good thing will end. For avid movie watchers and horror fans who are looking for something more than just a cheap thrill, I would not recommend this film.
The plot isn't anything too spectacular as it is very predictable from the end till the beginning. Even throughout that, the amount of plot holes in this film are unexplainable. From the villain's ulterior motive to his origin, nothing is quite clear throughout the film (although there is potential for a sequel which may answer some unanswered questions).
It's a simple film about a good vs evil fight as you would expect a typical Bollywood film to be. In short, this movie is not worth the 2 hours and 12 minutes it takes to tell a lackluster story.
