Funny and so Serious
21 May 2008
From most of the prior comments the movie definitely has some positive elements about it including 100 grams of snort-able weapons grade Plutonium. Personally I expected little from a movie named after an atomic element but was surprised to find it a bit engrossing. Some found the dual story lines of the sickened nuclear factory worker and the Russian mobsters to be a bit too much. I found the narrative switches to be entertaining. With Timofey, the "glowing" and disgruntled plant worker, there is the heavy but poetic monologues of particles and light waves, a rather clever analogy of his crumbling life and his love for his family with basic nuclear physics. While most of the bungling Russian mafia characters and scenes were rather entertaining. Shiv, a fast talking bottom feeding street mobster, is a pathetic character that you almost can almost sympathize with. Shiv's attempt on teaching life's lessons to his young son while riding down a mall escalator was a funny nuance moment that starts with a Jesse James story and morphs into a confused connection with Jesse Jackson, Micheal Jackson, the Jackson 5, and finally Andrew Jackson. That somewhat hilarious scene itself is enough to lighten up the movie but then there also the comical street address confusion of "7" with "1" incident. Top that of with character Tusk's amusing little mafia business lecture to Shiv and his cohorts, which feels like a cheap late night infomercial testimony, and the movie could be considered a dark comedy with heavy elements...literally.

Greatest movie of all time...Angelina rules
9 November 2003
Personally, this is my favorite movie of all time. Why? Dont Know? I've always avoided ever trying to keep a movie in my mind as my all-time "favorite", but the time has finally come. Its gotta be because Angelina Jolie is so young, pale, and very hot in this flick. Combine that with a fast paced story, glossy movie images, some nifty and crafty visuals of the cyber mind and super networks, some cool computer geeks who all seemed to be well cast, and ya got one of the greatest movies of all time. God i wish Angelina was mine. If you never seen it, and are tired of Sunday afternoon football, put this was on your list but keep an open mind.

a wild ride...mindblowing action & revelations..imax rules
30 June 2003
Wow!!! What can you say about this movie that hasn't already been said before and to come. I saw it for 2nd time in theaters just last week, but this time around in the Imax large-screen format. To say the least I was blown away by the bigger image and awesome digital sound, which probably needed its own power-plant to supply the juice for the theater's speaker systems....My GOD, I was re-living the whole Matrix experience again.. The only issue I could take with the Wachowski boys is that the film used to make the Imax version did not seem to be in the true high-color image capture of the IMAX film experience. I guessed they filmed it in regular crapy film format and then cheaply & artificaly upsized it-Wendy's style to the IMAX print...very dissapointing :<

If you loved/liked the original Matrix then there shouldn't be any reason not to like Reloaded unless your just plain lame and boring, or you just seen it with a bad attitude. In order to prevent this from happening for both those who have and have not seen it; just use any substances and/or other personal mood enhancers to improve the effect of entering 1 hell of an alternative reality. Proper mind programming is a requirement and is the sole responsibility of the movie viewer. In my case alcohol and a big screen with audio was all that was needed for my awesome reloaded trip.

Decent flick...Teddy rules...lighten up critic masters
17 May 2003
The reviews of this Speilberg-Kubrick flick are way to harsh in my opinion. Given any other creaters/directors I wonder if these way too-serious critics would be so plentifull. If you can overlook this issue and just watch this movie for what it is; a series of moving film frames that continue for 2 hours or so to occupy the void time in your so called intelligent life, then there shouldn't be any reason any typical open-minded movie-goer shouldn't enjoy it. I myself believe its a time-less classic , and often timeless classics are misjudged, often maligned for not contriving to a certain cookie-cutter standard. Critics often mention multiple flaws related to their own beliefs of how the characters and story should'a/could'a have been like this or that, bla bla bla. They simply forget that sci-fi movies are a unique genre that need more space from ones own fit of their own movie world. There are just so many things you can say about this spacy semi-dark flick. But the simplest elements of this kind of movie are usually the best. For me it was the Teddy bear character. How can a movie go wrong when one of its major characters is a cuddly stuffed enigmatic talking teddy bear sidekick that saves the day. It gets no better.

one of best 50's classic si-fi movies
5 October 2002
Why do i Believe its one of the best. Well who knows. But I do know i was surprised at his almost timeless message, particularly from a time in the 50 & 60'ties when Hollywood si-fi movies where either campy, B type, or simply so crapppy and yet unaware of its own lameness, that they had to be timeless cult classics. But not the case at all with The Day the Earth Stood Still. I can say I'm not really into older movies, but I guess I was indoctrinated into liking this movie by my father, who saw this movie as a boy, and without question, was thoroughly amazed as a impressionable boy growing up in the begining of the Cold War. I guess you could say his nostalgic love of the movie affectionitley rubbed off onto me. But, still, if you like sci-fi even a little, and can forgive the out of date effects, go rent it, and just enjoy. Heck, one day this movie may be remade, and I'll guarntee an updated screenplay and modern day effects will make it a modern day classic.

a stylish flick with an interesting Ripper-twist
15 July 2002
This movie had a bit more depth than I expected. It wasn't great by any measure, but the late 19th century backdrop was supported well by the sets and custom design, making it one of the more stylish period movies I've seen in some time. Along with that came a another good performance by Johnny Deep, but I felt the supporting performance of Heather Graham could have been played better by a British actress or a lesser unknown. I just couldn't picture Heather in anything less then a peppy gorgeous blond role (ie Austin Powers), although I have to say she surprised me in this role as the 19th century whore with the tender heart. See this flick if you can, especially if you have any interest in the macab and dark history of this time.

a classic game
30 June 2002
its been almost 20 years since i played this game...but i still remember it as a classic activision game for the Atari 2600 console. Although simplistic for todays standards of 3d games, it had more then your usually simple move sideways and fire then the first line of atari games like space invaders. It had some mapping and and a little planning (warp through levels) to it that made it a true quality activision title. Thanks Activision for the spaced-out memories.

a bad flick that completes the jaws tale
30 June 2002
i don't think there is more to say about this movie that hasn't been said. Its just plains stinks. But for as bad as it is, its still watchable, (its still shown on the TNT cable network channel for whatever thats worth), if just only to complete the Sharks vs the Brody family epic battle. Surprisingly the acting isn't all bad either considering the material they have to work with. The one thing that really strikes me about this flick is that i just read that the little girl in the movie, (Judith Barsi) was killed by a family member shortly after this film. Quite sad this story is, to this day her grave is unmarked :(. I believe she was a notable little actress and cartoon voice-over in many animated features.

A sports tale of magic and belief
7 June 2002
I haven't seen this movie in almost 2 decades. I saw it as a young adolescent growing up in Pennsylvania. Nonetheless its still one of my favorites. I can't tell ya why....its simply a story of magic and a boy who has smartz and more importantly a belief in others and all. I'll wait for the DVD to see it again....even if i have to wait a couple more decades.
