Twilight (I) (2008)

Stop comparing it to the book!!
24 December 2008
My girlfriend was utterly taken by the books and disappeared out of my life for a month or so while she completed the series. So taken was she, that she forced it upon me to read Twilight and I must admit, I rather enjoyed it... a lot! I rushed to finish it by the day I went to see the movie.

I read the previous disappointed comment from the couple of people before me and was gobsmacked! Why is it that some people have to have every single page of a book put on the screen? The audio books went for almost 20 hours so of course they have to cut stuff out and re-order things a little! I thought the screen adaption of this book was utterly Brilliant!! My god Rob Pattinson can act!! His eyes and facial expressions throughout the movie were unlike anything I've ever seen before. I've honestly never seen a performance like it. I had already seen that Kristen Stewart was playing Bella before I read the book and so it was hard not to think of her while I was reading but whoever cast her for the role absolutely hit the nail on the head. She was perfect! A little quirky, with a little rebellious attitude, obviously a goofy foot ;) but also, incredibly pretty. I've seen her in previous roles but she really shined in this movie and the chemistry between them is unreal. The whole idea behind the forbidden love absolutely drove you insane. You could see how much they wanted each other from the first scene... well.. almost the first scene. That scene in biology was hilarious!

Anyways, overall I've seen a LOT of movies lately and have been fairly disappointed with Hollywood in general pumping out the same reprocessed stories over and over again. This was the first movie I've seen in a LONNNGGG time that actually had a fair bit of originality to it. It was lovely and fresh, great acting, great directing and a fantastic story. My hat off to everyone that was involved with its creation! I can't wait for the next one!

Great Performances from some excellent new talent!
21 January 2008
The entire time I was watching rocket science, I was gob smacked by the performances of the entire cast, but in particular Anna Kendrick and Nicholas D'Agosto. Their performances were unlike anything I've seen in years!!! I think it's difficult to portray a character that you hate and love quite like Anna has done in this movie, and even now.. I'm still wondering..? but mostly it's love ;)

Seriously, for the last 2 decades or so, Hollywood has been lacking the ability to produce anything that even resembles 'originality' and usually just chews up and spits out a recombination of 3 or 4 stories that have been told time and time again..... and for that reason alone, there'll probably be one or two people that won't even appreciate this movie because its not that run of the mill crap they're used too.

But honestly, whoever put together the cast of this movie deserves a massive pat on the back. I cannot think of another name that could have fit the profile of these characters so perfectly!

I question how the hell it got the 'R' rating however?? Come on, its language and sexuality content was on par with 'Lost in Translation'.. What the? Whether you're 25 or 12, watch this movie by yourself with no distractions and no one to influence your reactions and you will LOVE this movie, it's very clever. I recommend it highly!

watching this is one of my greatest childhood memories!!

Agree entirely with what the other guy wrote, peanut butter solution is one of those movies that you watched when you're a kid and want to tell the world about it now but just can't quite get the title off the end of your tongue. I asked heaps of people and nobody knew...

And then it hits you!

Seriously one of the most bizarre movies you'll ever watch but it will never leave you. It's definitely one of those movies that you just don't quite 'get' when you're a kid but it has that ability to always make you smile when you think back about it.. Truly a classic from the 80's!!!

It's even still good enough to let your kids of today watch it.. Although they may end up calling you a dag at the end of it because you're also sitting cross legged a metre away from the screen next to em ;)
