The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
My expectations were high and I wasn't disappointed.
The Two Towers is an amazing movie. Everyone involved in the making of this film deserves a standing ovation. As in Fellowship the acting, directing, and visual effects were all great. Treebeard and Gollum looked incredible. The battle of Helm's Deep was awesome. My only complaint is that the character development wasn't as good as in FOTR. But other than that the movie is great and I highly recommend it.
Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)
This is one awful film.
This has got to be the worst movie ever made. The thing looks like a home movie that was filmed on an 8mm camera. I'm serious. This movie is just horrible. Don't ever watch it unless it's the MST3000 version.
The Scarlet Claw (1944)
Fantastic!
"The Scarlet Claw" is probably the best of these Rathbone/Bruce films. The plot is very cool. I found the movie to be more frightening than "The Hound of the Baskervilles". And of course, Rathbone is always wonderful as Holmes. I would recommend this movie to any Sherlock Holmes fan or to anyone who just likes mystery movies.
Sherlock Holmes in Washington (1943)
Sherlock Holmes in Washington
Although none of the Rathbone/Holmes films are what I would call great film making, I find them to be quite enjoyable, due mostly to Rathbone's performance as Holmes. I found this one in particular to be one of the more enjoyable movies in the series. The plot is intriguing enough to hold the viewers attention and I found the scene with Holmes in the antique store to be immensely entertaining. While not a great and thought-provoking film, Sherlock Holmes in Washington is definitely worth watching if you're looking for something that merely entertains.
