Slap Her, She's French! (2002)
Amusing yet bizarre
Amusing yet bizarre sums up this film well. We have psycho French girls, two best friends who really need time apart (though Nicki Aycox is my favourite actress and that's the whole reason I saw this film) and a really gross football playing boyfriend.
Bizarre. Thats the word that comes to mind.
It's a clash of Sugar and Spice, Bring It On and Drop Dead Gorgeous. It doesn't compare to anything I've seen because it's so damn weird. But it a good way. Piper Perabo does an awesome job, Jane McGregor could go far and it was a fun film.
Crash Zone (1999)
Quality and light hearted fun...
Compared to some of the plotless garbage made for children's televion today, Crash Zone has to be one of the best TV shows around - I'm almost 15 and I couldn't think of what I'd rather be watching on TV.
Each of the characters - and actors - compliment each other and the story lines can stand alone or run together.
Quality in a children's TV Show hasn't really been seen since the days of the first series of 'Lift Off' with Poss.
If it came down to it, there is practically nothing else I'd rather do than watch the adventures of something as light hearted as six kids and an AI overcome challenges. Kids and computers - it hasnt been done before.
Crash Zone is one of the best TV shows to come out of Melbourne in a long time.
Dark Angel (2000)
Recommended 'Dark Angel' episodes and opinion
The basic plotline might seem a tiny bit creepy to any casual observer; a secret government lab creating children with superior DNA to fight and kill, known as X5s. In 2009, twelve of them escaped into the real world. Several months after the escape, a computer targeted electromagnetic pulse is let off, turning America into a third world country. In comes one of the escapees, Max, who is 18 years old and searching for the other 11 escapees.
I followed the series faithfully since the sixth or seventh episode. While Max and Logan and the rest of the Seattle characters are all fantastic episodes, I have to say my favorite episodes, the ones that stand out from all the rest are the ones where we meet or hear about the other escapees. And I was also surprised to find that IMDb did not credit William Gregory Lee for his recurring role as Zack/X5-599.
I think the best two episodes of the series, are 'The Kidz are Aiight' and '...And Jesus Brought A Casserole.' In 'Kidz' we hear about the other escapees and get some more names - eventually, we are given the names of 9 escapees in Season 1.
AJBAC made me an instant fan of Nicki Aycox (Syl/X5-701) and Joshua Alba (Krit/X5-471). The entire episode was given more depth because we meet some of Max's siblings.
And while the second series has not yet been shown in Australia, I feel that Season 1 will always come away with stronger plot lines because of the siblings - by writing Zack out several episodes into series 2, they take away a lot of possible plot lines.
It is a great disappointment to find out Joss Whedon's Firefly has been chosen over 'Dark Angel'. It is a loss, as the show was left with so many open plotlines.
But, if you were going to watch an episode, I would definatly recommend any episode featuring a fellow X5. It gives the character of Max another dimension.
