Vincent does it again!
25 October 2004
Vincent Price and American International does it again! This is wonderful! Absolutely wonderful. Thank God MGM has released all of these great old films on DVD. I got this one on a double feature DVD with the Tomb of Ligeia.I was engrossed. Vincent Price is mesmerising. He really shows off his chops here. This man was amazing. I wish there were more actors like him. What a great man. What a great performance. If this had been released in theaters, he would have won an Oscar. American International films may be laughable now, but they sure did revive the careers of some of the greats, and gave careers to truly talented youngsters. They had a niche in both markets! Thank God for Vincent, AI, and Independent Cinema!

Beauty and the Cheese
10 October 2004
This movie is beautiful. Its a consummate midnight movie. Okay, so Paul Williams, Bill Finley, and Jessica Harper may not be the best actors in the world. And sure, the effects, set, camera moves, and acting is SO VERY seventies, but that doesn't take away from the most beautiful score of any made for film musical, heart tugging writing, and a great villain. Also, the humor of this film is great. De Palma was obviously having fun. I mean, this movie can be viewed as a bad piece of overblown trash, or a studio trying to capitalize on a midnight movie craze, but wheres the fun in that? The direction is solid, the music is relevant, and the movie tells a story. Its fun, entertaining, and emotional. What more do you want from a movie? Plus, you have Rod "Twilight Zone" Serling doing the opening narration! What a beautifully cheesy movie.

Have to say, Loved it!
24 September 2004
This movie was great. It wasn't the best Cohn bros, but it was a great remake that definitely shows that Tom Hanks is still good at comedy and that making a movie that is just full of intelligent "dumb" comedy is still possible. The original Lady Killers is great. Peter Sellers, Alec Guiness...wonderful. But this one was good too. Now, I know a lot of people said this was a bad movie or an ill-concived movie. I don't agree. Had any other directors worked on it, it would have been much different and not as dark or as funny. So nay sayers, keep nay saying, as it is your right. But this movie tickled me. Every word out of Tom Hank's mouth was amazing. This just proves how good of an actor he is. All of those lines seemed extremely hard to learn and then spew out at the rate he did. I'll soon be adding this one to my film library. And I must, MUST have waffles.

Club Dread (2004)
Swing and a miss.
3 June 2004
Well, not as good as Super Troopers, but still damn funny. Club Dread will definatly be added to my collection. It's a good movie, but I don't wanna rush out and buy it for a few reasons. It's not ads funny or nearly as inventive as Super Troopers. It is a great and Literate parody of late seventies/early eighties slasher pics and resort comedies, but it's just very uneven. The guys from Broken Lizard are funny, but the movie just doesn't quite gel. Bill Paxton is great as a Jimmy Buffet rip off act, and the music is great. Club Dread is an interesting exerpeince. Sort of like one of those movies that are charming, but you are hard pressed to say you like it all the way.

Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)
Bruce is the man. Give him an Oscar!
27 May 2004
Warning: Spoilers
This is it. Army of Darkness, EVD, those are Bruce in his Pupal and Larve stages. This movie shows Bruce in his prime. What a great actor. What an amazing profomance. Why, oh why, is was he passed over for an academy award? He should have won. (Possible Spoilers) He played DUEL ROLES OF HIMSELF!THIS IS LIKE THE THIRD TIME HE'S DONE THIS! This guy is a god. A b-movie god. Why didn't they release this movie wide? Man, they should. I guess time will tell, but all I am saying is this movie was awsome. All of the acting and the Actors (Ozzie Davis included) were great, but Bruce. What a guy. Perfect Elvis. Andy Kaufman couldn't have done it better! Long Live the King!

Creepy Stuff
14 February 2004
This movie is creepy and amazing. It's like an overlong Liquid Television sketch. The actors, the sets, everything looks dirty and depressing. Bil Paxton is never clean, Jud Nelson never stops sweating, Laura Flynn Boyle never looks happy, and the town never has sunlight. It'll throw you off if not prepared, but honestly, it's a great movie. It makes no sense, except in the world it created, and that's the beauty of it. This movie is great.

Casablanca (1942)
You must remember this...a movie that is great
19 August 2003
What two words come to mind when describing "Casablanca"? Perfect and Classic. I can't explain it to you. You have to see to believe. And if you have, welcome to the club.

Eh...Tepid...

This was not a bad screen play. It's much better than the final product. The man who plays Lenoige is great. There are some inspired moments, but all and all, boring. Nice little King movie to add to your collection, Though.

Sad, Depressing, Dark, and Funny.
11 August 2003
Warning: Spoilers
(Possible Spoilers) The King of Comedy. Possibly the most disturbing DeNiro and Scorecese collaberation ever. Even better than Taxi Driver. In Taxi Driver, Bickle was an externally violent character, therefore you could fear him because you can see him coming. Rupert Pupkin("Often Mispronounced and misspelled")is a very internally violent man and you don't know just how crazy he is until it's too late. And violent not in the sense that he'll harm a person, cause he never harms a person at all during the film, but he's always on the edge. You don't know when he'll lash out, and though he doesn't, the chance for it is always there. DeNiro is a nerd. Plain and simple. He's an obsessed nerd and thinks that his only way to redeem how he feels about himself is through sucess in comedy. His fantasies, at first, are obvious. Then they begin to flow into real life, and you almost cannot tell where the fantasy begins and real life ends. Its frightening. The comedy in this film comes from all the main characters, but it's comedy from everyday life. It's not forced. It's comes very naturally.

The most suprising comedy comes from the director and his mother. Martin Scorecese has a cameo as the talk show director who's small moment includes finding Pupkin funny when no one else does, and Martin's mom who plays the Offscreen voice of the nagging Mrs. Pupkin. The King of Comedy. Dark, Depressing, Frightening,Funny, and Suprising. See it.

CABIN FEVER! AHHHHH!
23 January 2003
Awsome Muppet Adventure. I don't care how many people hate this movie, I still think it's smart, funny, and amazing. The muppets still have it. Though I agree by most by saying it's not the best Muppet movie, it sure beats the hell outta "The great muppet caper" (How slow was that movie?!). Tim Curry, the greatest and most under rated musical preformer alive, is at his element here. The music is awsome and his one song ("Upstage Lads, this is me only number!") is awsome. This is a good movie. For a pirate movie, and a muppet movie.

Danger Mouse (1981–1992)
What a show!
21 January 2003
This show is a great, hilarious, and Pythonesque look at the British Secret Agent genre. It's perfect for kids with it's action and kid friendly characters, but great for older kids with it's various subversive and funny references to England and the culture. I loved this cartoon dearly as a child, and now that I have grown up, I have found a video store that carries old episodes. It brought back memories of my grandmother's house (where I first saw it) and Count Duckula (a great spin off. This show is amazing. BRING IT BACK, NICKELODEON!

Oh Come On! Its not that bad!
16 September 2002
Nerds, man. Fricking Nerds. This is one of the funniest movie series ever man! This one is just sorta like a great reunion movie. Its funny, and its more family oriented. I think it would be a good movie to show to my kids, if I had them. The Third one, same thing. Now Booger is my favorite Nerd. To see he's getting some steady ass from a not so ugly Omega Moo is great. Its a nice thing to know that after all this time, Nerds can still make people laugh and give you a heart warming feeling that everyone out there can be loved. This movie isn't as bad as you are lead to believe. The second one was the worst one. This one is pretty good.

Bubble Boy (2001)
Sorry to say, but this movie impresses the hell out of me.
7 August 2002
Bubble Boy. How offensive! How can they make fun of people with no immune system? That's just wrong! That's not right! Two tickets please.

Boy, this was quite a film. It was funny, full of heart and sweetness. It was no less humorous than Road Trip, American Pie,Animal House...These films were all "innovative". Bubble Boy had the same amount of Laughs, "heart", and less offensive content.

The actors give their all, the script is actually very fun, and damn it! Its well made! You wanna talk a more offensive film? See "Boy in the plastic bubble." That's offensive AND embarassing.

I think it's funny...especially "FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAH?!"

And then there were three...
5 August 2002
Not the best Austin powers, but it works. To see the return of these monsterously creative characters and to see the cameos makes one feel as if an old friend who you haven't seen in say a few years stops by. You and this friend have a great time until the changes become evident and then its almost as if you have a new friend...and some of the changes you don't like, but you still want this friend, so you accept and move on. This is what one must do when experiencing Austin Powers in Goldmember. Austin and the usual gang are back, but there are quite a few changes. These changes make for both an engaging and fun way to look at the AP franchise, but also a way to kill it.I had a fun time with Goldmember and you should too...

This has got to be one of the BEST BEST BEST animated features ever!
5 August 2002
Where in the hell did the public get off not going see this wonderful animated gem? This movie is AMAZING! The surreal animation and the deep meanings...these could really change a kid's life and give them a better understanding of life. The performances, the art...the music... There is so much to say that is good about this film. I truly feel this is one of the most perfect films I have ever had the pleasure of seeing.

The novel this wonderful film is based on is also great. Well, Greatness spawns greatness. This film is wonderful...wonderful. The plot, the writing...See for yourself and "Be Happy".
