Red Dragon (2002)
a bad movie
Why is it the worst movies succeed at the box office? The most shocking thing about this movie was how weak Edward Norton's performance was. The plot was predictable and the characters were not believable. The movie was not suspenseful or scary. It just failed to deliver on every account. The build up (or explanation) of how the red dragon's past turned him into the red dragon was laughable at best. "If you dirty your sheet one more time, i'll cut it off!" LOL!
Every bit as bad as the 2nd one in the Hannibal series.
Lilo & Stitch (2002)
Best Disney film since Dumbo!
I took my 6 year old nephew to see this film. Both of us loved it. My favorite Disney film is Dumbo but Stitch is a close second. This film strayed from the formula that has made most of Disney's recent films boring.
The characters of Stitch and Lilo are both adorable but not bland and goody goody. However, I was not impressed with the other alien characters and David. I think the beginning of the movie could of also used some work. The quality of the film drastically improved once Stitch was in Hawaii. Still, "Lilo & Stitch" is the best animated feature in a long time.
Reign of Fire (2002)
Terrible!
They should have made this movie into a fantasy/sci-fi film. The premise of how dragons got loose again on future earth was ridiculous. I laughed out loud numerous times when I'm sure it wasn't the films intention. Matthew McConaughey 's character (Van Zan) was a complete stereotype. Just plain BAD.
Mulholland Dr. (2001)
changed my mind about LYNCH
I walked into the movie theater an avid fan of David Lynch and walked out hoping he'd never make another movie. I use to think that his work had to be analyzed and dissected to be understood. Now, I realize that his work has no meaning but is only random pycho babble. Perhaps, just an excuse to show some hot lesbian love scenes.
City of Angels (1998)
is this love? or a pear.
This movie suffers from cliches and over used symbolism. Instead of being smooth and subtle it attempts to beat you over the head with it's "love".... resulting in a silly melodramatic love story.
Neither, Nicholas Cage or Meg Ryan deliver a believable performance as lovers experiencing loss. I think this movie suffers from post-goth depression.
Rough Magic (1995)
bodily functions
you won't be able to control your bodily spasms due to laughter while watching what i think was suppose to be a serious? movie...it's terrible- absolutely horrible- as a serious movie BUT wow what a great comedy.
Out of Africa (1985)
one of the best films ever...
This has always been my favorite film. The subtle beauty of this film always amazes me. Streep and Redford both deserved something more than oscar has to offer anymore. The entire cast for that matter was wonderful. The cinematography was breath taking.
I was shocked when I saw how low a rating it had here. When I see what films make the big money in the US (ridiculous plot ,exploding cars, corny humor), I don't know why this shocked me.
