Seppan (1986)
This twisted film haunted my childhood!
I was about 11 years old and my teacher took our class to a low budget cinema where they used to (and perhaps they still do) show films for younger people. We saw many horrible films at that cinema, but I think Seppan must have been the worst. Today i probably would have thought of it's oddity as fun, but for a child it's just too strange to be good in any way. Several scenes are very strange. 1. A little girl walk on top of a fence and seconds later she falls down and is hurt so bad between her legs, that she starts to bleed. Her mom thinks she's just got her first period. 2. A boy plays with his friends and little sister on a railway, suddenly a train appears and hits the girl who is instantly killed. The boy just looks at her and walks away as if nothing really had happened. You never get to see the parents reactions either. 3. A boy tries to impress a girl by cutting his palm with a knife. Later he just walks into a lake and drowns. 4. Two girls hide out in a playhouse and compare colors of their genitals, until one of the girls mom discover them and gets furious.
I really want to see this movie again, because a film can't be as twisted as i thought Seppan was when i saw it as an eleven year-old. I have thought of the film many times during my childhood and wondered what anyone could like about it. If i saw it today, i might find the plot reasonable in some way, but as i remember, it was a scary experience.
Grötbögen (1997)
A legend is born!
An odd movie is to say the least, but it has become known in Sweden for other reasons. This was the debut, the very breakthrough for the actor Jan Erik Björkqvist. After playing the retarded Musse in Grötbögen, he got his own fan site on the web. Everywhere he went he was treated like a hero, like a true superstar. Sadly, after the success with Grötbögen in 1997, he decided to retire as an actor the following year. After that no one has seen or heard from him. In Sweden you compare it to mysteries surrounding Elvis life and death, only Jan Erik has never been said to have died. The most fanatic fans are still searching for the legend as this is written. Some believe he has gone to Africa to make a career as a chief in some secret tribe deep in the jungle where no one will ever find him.
His brief appearance in Grötbögen made him one of the greatest mysteries ever in Sweden.
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993)
Jason loses important killing time when playing around in mirrors.
I did not ask for this! I didn't want to know what Jason really was... Not if he turns out te be maneuvered by one of the serpents/dragon kids that bursts out of peoples chests in the Alien-flicks. In that case, the bounty hunter in this movie wouldn't have been the only one wise enough to know the true way of killing Jason Vorhees. A certain E. Ripley could surely think of something...
The beginning of the movie is great! It feels like "early days" again! For the most part of the film you'll only see glimpses of the great Jason in mirrors, not the true stalker himself. No, instead others are due to do the job this time. In this movie the score actually ends 2-0 to Humanity V.S Jason! Lucky guess anyone!? Mine was 15-1 in Jason's favor...
Alright, new ideas must be welcomed when it's the 9th sequel, but they have already tried the idea of putting the main hero character on the bench, while others do all the fun. Didn't work then, doesn't work now.
Great to see Kane Hodder's true nature, when he's not the man behind the mask.
Lousy attempt to end this horror series. Feels good to know that Jason has served his time in hell in the by the year 2455, and then maybe is free to return to his profession.
