An error has ocurred. Please try againRussian cinema has experienced three political regimes: the Russian Empire, Pre-1917; the Soviet Union, 1917–1991; and the Russian Federation, 1991–present. Unfortunately, during the past decade Russians learned very well to shoot bad films, produce good promotions for them and make big money at the same time. Russian films of the 21 century take up less than a quarter of my list. Russia shoots a lot of films today, but only 1% make it to the theaters. However, I do highly recommend all the films on my list. I do not list the films in any particular order, so you may chose to go by IMDB rating or by the time period you prefer the most. Many films are available on YouTube with English subtitles. If you have any questions or suggestions, please message me or leave a comment. Also, take a look at my other lists on IMDB. I was careful to include all the films that I really like.

Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Disappointed in all of it.
Unlike many other disappointed reviewers who are critical of the ending, I find the entire series to be the most disappointing. The annoying ghost of the sister, the mishmash of all the existing social problems, the forgettable new characters... Dexter was completely lost and irrelevant on the background of everyone else's drama. The ending was just as bad as the rest of it. I only watched it till the end to see how worse it will get. I wonder if the writers of the New Blood even liked the original Dexter series. They completely stripped the character from his main characteristics: sharpness, sense of humor, creativity. This is indeed some Jimmy Jimbo from some small town, not Dexter from Miami. Should have never been written.
Mutum (2007)
Very Good Movie
This moving film tells a story of a boy who loves his family unconditionally. His father does not treat him well, his best friend, a dog named Rebecca is taken away without any explanations, his brother is just let die of something that nobody puts much effort in to figure out, his mother at the end gives him away to the stranger, who might be a faraway city doctor and who finds out that the boy has a bad vision. Thiago puts on the glasses the man gave him and for the last time looks around the area he grew up at and his poor family. As in every good movie the story leaves it up to us to figure his further life. In my version he turns into an educated and adventures young man, but the caring and loving child still remains in him till the rest of his life. but as we all know the world is not that perfect and horror of reality keeps me worried about the character.
Highly recommend to watch it. The movie is based on pure child perception and emotion. no unnecessary talks, no extra characters, no music...A+
